The leader in scoring among rookies at summer league is not D'Angelo Russell or Emmanuel Mudiay. The leading rookie rebounder in Las Vegas also didn't go to Duke or Kentucky and wasn't drafted in the top-three.

Rather, the leader in both of these categories is an undrafted, undersized center by the name of Alan Williams. Out of UC Santa Barbara, Williams -- who is suiting up for the Houston Rockets as a free agent and is eligible to sign with any team -- is averaging 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game after a ridiculous 22 points and 20 rebounds in his final game of the week, a loss against the Philadelphia 76ers.

That guy.

Misleading article is misleading. Should say at vegas summer league.

Aaron Gordon averaged 21.5PPG and 14RB

Rockets got two gems in Harrel and Williams. Harrel is a replica of Farid with post game and this guy is a rebounding machine.

Sounds nice.

But doesn't take into consideration minutes per game. Don't know if he played a ton of minutes compared to the other rookies.

Also, as everyone is always quick to remind us, it's summer league, and means absolutely nothing. Nothing at all.

There's about 20 guys who averaged more mpg than he did.

Including Towns, Okafor, and Russell. Here:

Williams
20.5ppg, 11.8rpg, 50% FG, 28.3mpg

Okafor
18.5ppg, 8.5rpg, 44% FG, 31.5mpg

Towns
12.8ppg, 7.2rpg, 39% FG, 31.2mpg

Good to know.

Does this mean you would take Alan Williams over Towns, Okafor and Russell?

I mean, he did put up better numbers in summer league.

No, it means the Rockets have a guy on their roster putting up better numbers than any pick in the draft that they paid $0 for.

It means nothing. That's what it means.

Let's bump this thread halfway through the regular season and see who is putting up better numbers....

Edit: I can see how/why Rockets fans would be encouraged by this. I was encouraged when Qyntel Woods won summer league MVP for the Blazers. Also when Bayless did too.

Joe Young had 22.5 ppg. for the Pacers in SL...
