about D'Angelo Russell regarding him being a bust while everyone is high on Mudiay, here are their SL numbers

Russell

11.8 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 3.2 APG, 5.2 TO, 37.7% FG 68.8% FT

Mudiay

12.0 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 5.8 APG, 5.0 TO, 38.5% FG, 50.0% FT

Both guys were highly turnover-prone and played near-identical minutes, one had a little more success passing

Mudiay's last game he had 1 assist and 7 turnovers :kobe:

so what did the Summer League show us again?

If Russ is a bust, so is Emmanuel.

How does a PG average more turnovers than assists?

eye test.

Eye test tells me that Russell will be the best player from his draft class.

No, being a laker fan tells you that

If I'm using the so-called "eye test" then Russell looked like Curry-lite last game with his midrange game. It's the summer league for a reason and I wouldn't put much stock in it. It's just a transition period for new players and nothing more.

As an example, Adam Morrison dominated the summer league a few years back, but was waived by the Blazers before the season started. The eye test told me he looked like Dirk in the summer league, but he went back to being Adam Morrison in the NBA setting

Just give the kid a few more years. Chances are he is still growing at 19. He has ways to go.

As others said, you can't put much stock into Summer League. Summer League has a history of making scrubs look like the next Michael Jordan and making future great players look like bust.

All in all, I haven't been impressed by D'Angelo Russell. However, Summer League is fools gold. We've have to wait until he plays a full NBA season or two to judge him. By then, we will definitely know how good he really is.

That's what happens when your team is picking at the top of the draft :lol :(
