People don't realize how great of a shooter he was last season. He had the best midrange jumper (50%), shot 90% from the line and 40% from 3. Then he shot 50/42/94 in the playoffs.

He was one of the best shooters in the league along with being the best ballhandler, passer and a very good defender.

He's one of the most polished players I've ever seen - only 6 ft tall but been an elite player for 8 seasons now.

The supposedly "most skilled player in the league" should have at least made the finals by age by age 30, let alone win it.

This "skilled" player got his ass kicked by GOATbrook last playoffs.

Don't think its happened often but aggression beat skills

Yeahh about that ...

CP3: 22.5 ppg, 51 FG%, 46% from 3, 2.5 steals, 11.8 assists, only 2.3 turn overs

I don't want to list westbrook's stats, but that matchup was pretty much a draw, with Cp3 putting up better advanced numbers.

He didn't get checked by anyone

CP3 remains a top 5-7 player in the league, and curry still isn't better. Westbrook has a great argument.

CP3 easily has an argument for most skilled player, only way you can be a dominant force like that with that short stature, and he's the best pg defender in the game.

The spurs might literally have never lost and the warriors built leads on the depleted cavs while curry was on the bench

He outplayed Westbrook in half of those games. No one remembers how badly he killed OKC in game 1 going 8/9 from three in 3 quarters or how he led his team from a 20 pt deficit in game 4 while defending KD down the stretch.

Probably either Curry or Kyrie Irving. Btw, anyone over 6'6 should be completely eliminated from the discussion as it's much easier to be a high caliber NBA player at 6'6+ than it is at 6'2/6'3 or whatever.

He's too tall to be in this discussion. This topic should be be reserved for the shorter guys who are still able to dominate at the NBA level. Durant's a phenomenal player, but it's much much easier to dominate at 6'9/6'10 than it is at 6'0-6'3.

CP and Westbrook are by far the 2 best at PG tho

nikkas forget Westbrook was on CP in game 1 and he hit 100 3s. Thabo was on him rest of the series while Westbrook was on Reddick:lol :lol

CP is the most skilled player for sure. One of the best perimeter defenders and top 3 defender at his position along with Rubio and Bledsoe and almost always defends the best player on the other team unless its a big he guards 1-3, best passer in the league, best playmaker, one of the best finishers at the rim, some of the best footwork and use of angles, great postgame, best midrange shooter, best pullup game, great overall shooter, best ball handler, best pickandroll player, best high screen and roll player. All at 5'11 with alot of strength for his size but not as athletic as most other PGs. CP is easily the most skilled right now

he plays with skills, IQ and craft. Westbrook is the perfect foil for him with his physicality, athleticism, speed and tenacity. the only player ive ever seen that i would say is no doubt more skilled as a basketball player is Larry Legend.

In the first couple minutes...
Touch Pass in the Half-Court
Touch Pass on the Fastbreak
Behind The Back off loose ball
Full Court Pass
Threw The Legs Behind The Back in the Half-Court
Threw The Legs Behind The Back to a Spot-Up Shooter
Accurate Pick and Roll Bounce Passes
Accurate Lob Passes

This is all from two seasons ago when Kyrie had inferior teammates. His APG numbers may pale in comparison to other Pass-First PGs, but you can't discredit him for his role as the team's go-to scoring option.

Kyrie can shoot fadaways from the post, but he doesn't have to resort to posting up because he has elite handles and is more dangerous from the perimeter.

No player in the league has a better combination of handles, shooting, and finishing in traffic than Kyrie Irving, therefore is the most skilled player in the league.

There's a difference between the best player and most skilled player.

Lebron was never the most skilled player in the league because he always was a shaky jumpshooter and FT shooter, as well as his handles and footwork being subpar.

Kyrie is elite in every aspect you'd want in a PG offensively. His defense has been passable (even though I don't include defense into the equation to find the most skilled player)

CP3 has had pretty damn stacked team since he went to the Clips, so...

His teams have been kind of top heavy, and funny enough, "stacked" isnttt good enough in the west. Spurs and Warriors have the some of the deepest squads in recent memory, if not in NBA history. A bunch of consummate role players who play defense and do all the other stuff. Add that doesn''t even take into account coach Pop, arguably the league's best coach.

Kerr is also excellent and he really stepped into a warriors team that had talent and a great chemistry together. Getting Iggy and Lee of the bench was also genius.

CP3 has simply never had a situation like that, and if he'd played the other game against the rockets they mightve pulled it out.

I think you can put westbrook, irving and James Harden on that squad and they'd still take the ship.

CTbasketball92

One of the worst defenders in the league and his speed/athleticism is a big part of his success

Yeah defensively he isn't good (though he's not really that bad), but his one-on-one skills are almost peerless. He's pretty much a CP3 without the GOAT type passing ability.

Kyrie is the point guard version of Kobe Bryant (can't dunk on ppl though). He does rely on athleticism more than most realize, though. He might be the most agile PG in the game and his first step is top tier.

But in game one of the finals he was hampered by his knee and missing his great athleticism ... and he still took the game over against the best defense in the game, while playing excellent defense on Curry.

Still, I don't take kyrie's skills over pauls... but he's in the discussion.

Kobe is also up there, height or not.

Huh? Skills usually get better as you age.

That was a display of his athleticism right there. CP3 is probably the most skilled, but that's no surprise. He has to be or else we wouldn't know much about him.

at 6 feet, if you ain't the most skilled then you're likely not a superstar. Iverson was probably the most skilled in his day too, though I wasn't alive to see him play.

Kobe easily...

skills does not mean efficiency...he played on one leg and with a torn rotator cuff and still dropped 44 on the Warriors on good efficiency, destroyed Atlanta on the road, dropped two triple-doubles, had 17 assists playing against Lebron and the Cavs, hit a game-winner against Indiana etc..

just look up Kobe offense highlights from 08-12 Playoffs, no one else can score in that many ways and make it look so effortless plus people who have watched him know that he is a great playmaker at the 2 position and could have been an elite, top 3 PG if he chose to do so in the right system.
