I feel like in America (not sure about other countries) the television media spends 90% of the time talking about stuff that is a tiny percentage of the real world instead of focusing on educating the public about the issues that affect the majority of them (e.g., poor education in the US, politicians initiatives, healthcare, pollution, transportation, economy).
Stuff that is fringe parts of our society:
-Religious extremism
-Citizen/cop violence
-LGBT stuff
-Celebrity news
I gave up on the nightly news (saw it for the first time in years this past week at my rents house).
Just a bunch of negative news that is reported making people scared of life. When in reality life has never been better at any point in human history.
Flipboard (app) FTW.

agreed, but the news gotta get their views mayne, and you cant really knock them for tryna get that money cuz
I disagree. The news should be focused on reporting not educating. They suck at that.
It's no surprise whenever people are arguing they use the shit tier arguments they found on the news by pundits that researched topics for like 5 seconds.

They do it in other countries too, but yeah, America is by far the worst. Only channel worth its salt is CSPAN, which has lots of decent stuff in its archives. America is really lacking a show with the maturity and openness of Buckley's 'Firing Line' at the moment. Now most news interviews just have the host shouting over the guest if he dare say anything they disagree with.

24 Hour Cable News are especially bad. These dudes are more like entertainment channels that use news to push an agenda
