seriously, wtf is K.J. McDaniels?
this guy got paid 3yrs 10mil based on his SL performance..
while a proven solid NBA player J.Lin got paid 2yrs 4.2mil???
lin shouldnt have signed that contract, instead he should join SL and own these fools, that might've gets him a better deal.

:facepalm

Isn't KJ like 21-22 years old? likely they think he can improve where as lin is what he is.

yes, however, JLin is instant ready for either starter or 6th man role, he doesnt need time to develop.

KJ McDaniels is young, athletic, and hungry with a mean streak.

Lin is good in the PnR and that's it. He had a good run when he played for the greatest spread-PnR coach, who let him run the team (and they weren't exactly blowing the doors off people)

In the NBA you get paid from game, not an over hyped streak in NY.

Lin s a minus defender, a below average shooter, and a turnover machine. Not starter quality. PG is a stacked position

We should all know Lin took that contract so he wouldn't have to deal with these overpaid expectations, beta AF

based on Summer League alone?

McDaniels already has an NBA season under his belt. As much as whoever payed him might have or haven't impressed by sl performance, they put much more weigh in what they saw last season and valued that more than whatever Lin is getting payed right now.

Both players are getting paid for what is expected of them next season. Not summer league. Mcdaniels I thought might get even more. Good contract IMO.

McDaniels has a ton of potential can be a defensive monster with a few years under his belt. He has amazing potential.Lin has reached his potential and that is a average backup.

Racism bro.

The yellow man CAN NOT catch a break in this league. Look up some of the circumstances regarding Yao's perpetual injuries that werent talked about in the mainstream media. There were certain... "interests" out there that did not want him to play..........

Yao was a freak of nature. a man of his size with his skillset was unheard of. Guys like him and Sabonis were a rare breed.

Yeah but those injuries were not flukes. Someone wanted to keep him - and his kind - off the court.

I literally have multiple inside sources that have confirmed this.

I doubt he's still on the Rockets by the end of this contract, unless they move either Ariza or Brewer to make room for another starting wing (Durant?).

This contract is very tradeable, the same way the Papanikolao contract structure was (although this one carries quite a bit more guaranteed cash).

I liked McDaniels as a late first rounder in the 2014 draft, but he's got lots of work to do to be playable in Houston. Offball defense, commitment when guarding smaller guys (he doesn't fight hard enough to keep them in front, then tries to block them from behind), and C&S 3-point shooting will be key for him if he wants PT.

Edit: Obviously KJ slid to 2nd round but I would have taken him in the 20s personally.

McDaniels is better that Lin for sure. He played a lot in Philly and couldn't crack the rotation in Houston. McDaniles plays hard hit he doesn't play smart that often. On D he gambles for blocks and steals constantly. On offense he is a pathetic dribbler and shooter. He is excellent running the floor. He is far more athletic than Lin and is young and has potential to be a 20-25 min a game player who can score 12pts and play solid D. He has a long way to go.

OP overlooking the fact LIN already got his contract based on potential...which was monster $$

Where this is KJ's first contract based on potential and is still super reasonable.

Lin in a sense got exposed for what he is...also teams know he's got $$ stashed away that he didn't deserve so he is more willing to sign for less.

It's kinda like a player being bought out and signing for vet min.

You think that's bad ? Kyle f'ing Singler got $25M.

And what did he do to earn it ? He averaged 3.7/2.1/0.7 on 33%FG/69%FT ...
