Introducing them on highway404 like 5 years was a stupid idea, and now this shit in the whole city for the entire month? lmao what were those decision makers smoking. they need to go. all of them. HOV is the devil, good in principle and intent, absolutely hilarious results.

For those that have no idea, the Panam games are in toronto and they basically took two of toronto's oldest and already most congested highways and blocked one of the three lanes from 5 am to 11 pm. Unless youre in a car with 3 or more people, are taxi, bus, police, etc or a fking motorcyclist

Heres an idea of what its like:

cheap tickets that get you a lot closer(relative to nba tickets of the same price) to supposedly national level competition in a bunch of cool sports you might not get to usually experience.

for example i went to watch womens volleyball with my dad and another sport over the weekend with my entire family, then we watched canada vs USA mens volleyball which was super exciting and lasted 2.5 hours. tickets were only 35 dollars. where we sat is the equivalent of the lower bowl in an nba game which runs atleast 10x that price.

basically its a good way to spend some time with family and friends for pretty cheap and a good experience.

its a poor mans olympics in almost every sense

Yea they screwed up the timings, of when they are in affect. I've seen the lanes completely empty while the other lanes are packed because of the time restrictions.

Bad execution.

yeah, i can imagine it would actually be a lot better if they just made it like 7-7 or something. that would encourage people change their 9-5 schedule to go in a bit earlier or a bit later to avoid the main rush.

As long as the restrictions are reasonable (ie used only during commute hours) I am in favor of HOV lanes. I am for almost any attempt to limit traffic and excessive driving. Don't like it? Carpool or take public transportation.

PS

I think the restriction should be limited to 2
