Why did you have to show that pic? Now CavsFTW will tell us all how 6'2" Jimmy Fredette is the same height as 6'7" Kawhi Leonard. :facepalm

Great fit for both parties. Was just watching Jimmer highlights earlier today, I'm happy for the guy and hope he'll finally be utilized properly on an unselfish team that shares the rock.

I always thought if someone used Jimmer the right way he could be extremely effective. I think he's a great fit with the Spurs. He could have his best year yet.

What does 'using Jimmer correctly' even entail exactly?

Sending him out to stand in the corners and chuck threes while guarding the other team's backup PG, (if he's not a decent one) and then rushing him back to the bench as soon as a decent player gets put back in?

I mean, I can see it working for the Spurs, but it's not like the dude 'fits' in any particular system outside of being a three point specialist.

How about when Spurs are down by a lot and time's running out, just send him out there to jack up threes from 30 ft out?

I know Pop is a smart man so he wouldn't be a fool and play Tony and Jimmer at the same time during any stretch of a game.

So say Tony goes to play 25 minutes per game and Jimmer plays 10, you're looking at 35 minutes of some of the worst perimeter defenders in the league in a Conference filled with skilled guards.

I believe the culture of the Spurs and the personal morals of Jimmer are a prefect fit for one another. Character does matter. Anyway....whatever talent or abilities Jimmer truly has will finally be given the chance to shine or improve upon.

You can make the WCF with 40+x minutes of horrible perimeter defense at SG.

unorthodox 'great' players fit well with what the Spurs do.

all their late pick successes, Parker, Ginobili, Diaw etc. were good because they were ballers.

Jimmer is a baller, it is not that Jimmer fits this system or that system it is simply that the Spurs cater to people who know how to play the game.

HUGE deal

DRtg isn't horrible
DWS isn't horrible
Defensive Box Score +/- is good
Averaged 1.6 steals per game in the postseason (which is good for 14th most)

I think if Jimmer's allowed to be a Ben Gordon 6th man type of role, then I think that's a good fit for him.

We'll probably see him play the same role that Gary Neal played a couple years ago with SA.

Spurs play deep, so sometimes they want guys who aren't starter caliber players, but still provide a specific skill at an NBA level.

Jimmer can't defend at an NBA level. Jimmer CAN score at an NBA level. He's averaged 16.2 pp-36 in his career, including 3 straight seasons of 18+ pp-36
40% of his shots have been 3's, and he shoots them at 38% (even when everyone knows that's the spot he wants to shoot from, and he shoots a lot of them off the dribble)

There's no use in giving up on a guy with Jimmer's shooting stroke. The kid can do only one thing, but he does it too well to just ignore it. If the Spurs managed to make something out of Matt Bonner's skills for so long, doing it with Jimmer won't be much of a challenge, all it takes is something that Bonner has that some elite player don't: Effort.

those guys are have great court sense and IQ. Jimmer does not have these things...if he did he would be a good point guard. he is a chucker

Undersized shooting guard that can't play a lick of D, with suspect handling. He won't even crack the rotation.
