I didn't realise he had a proper problem with alcohol. I thought it was just that he liked to party and made bad decisions but it sounds now like he's actually had addiction problems.

Crazy that a drunk negro the same height as me can make 9 figures in his career playing ball

Dude averaged 15/10 while being drunk most of the time. Kind of impressive.

This is just typical character assassination commissioned by the team after trading a player

He does have a bunch of DUIs though so they aren't really bringing it up unprompted. Would better if they didn't mention him turning up drunk though and just said he's had his problems.

Exactly. Anyone whose played ball on Saturdays or Sundays is used to smelling people sweat out the alcohol from the night before.

It's a bit different when you are in the NBA being paid millions of dollars to be in tip top shape though...

Not saying Ty Lawson doesn't have a problem, but that scenario wouldn't really indicate a problem.

You guys are acting like he is an alcoholic

He just likes to have a good time. He openly said if he was drafted by Miami he would have busted :lol also said he can see why Beasley busted

I mean from everything we're hearing it sounds like he may well be an alcoholic :oldlol:

If I show up to work drunk and get multiple DUI's I know people would consider me one.

Now there are a lot of highly functioning alcoholics out there, some of them quite high profile, so it's not like it can't be done either.

Or to just get really really high...with that option and still lean toward alcohol makes me question Ty a little bit. Weed > Booze any day of the week. Besides drug tests of course.

Smelling like alcohol cause you're hungover from the night before? Not really that big of a deal.

The team had to have more strict discipline than that. Lawson had to get help first, he should have been removed from all basketball activities if this was a big problem.

It kind of is since he should be able to handle himself the night before a practice but I don't see it as a very big deal. Especially since he was clearly checked out when the Nuggets sucked ass.

From a player's/FA perspective, this is not a good look for Denver to be airing this shit out in public. Seems unnecessary.

Some people can do stuff drunk.

I used to smoke a bit of weed before water polo games in college. Had my best game in my career decently baked. Swimming a lot makes your shoulders sore, but I never felt it with a bit of weed in me. I could just swim forever.

If Kroenke knew this, why didn't he suspend him? There are only reason I can think of that he let him continue to play was so that he could try to trade Ty without rumors of his drinking problems to hurt his value. That's kind of selfish for a guy who claims to "love Ty."

They knew he had an issue because of a prior DUI. He shows up to work smelling like alcohol.

You don't know if it was the night before or because he's drunk at the time. You weren't there.

Bottom line: Do you show up to work reeking of booze?

yeah its a huge red flag to any free agents who want to come to practice drunk and get DUIs - dont goto denver! other franchises might be cool with it but not denver.

jokes aside, the nuggets have handled this very well and given lawson a lot of support as well as even trading him to a contender (as opposed to suspending him without pay). i dont like the return on the trade but i gotta give the FO a lot of respect for how they have handled a very tough situation. hope lawson turns his life around.

Plus he's meant to be a professional athlete, if you run a multi million dollar franchise and you have people turning up hung over or smelling of booze that's not on. Maybe 20-30 years ago when sports weren't as professional but these days you are expected to give it your all on and off the court.

:oldlol: That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. Like, it'd be one thing if he were a 6'10 dude with great length and athleticism who could still be highly effective despite with coming in drunk and doing the bare minimum in practice and during the offseason, but a 5'11 dude? That unfathomable. One would think someone Lawson's size would need to do everything possible to make sure his performance is always at a very high level (since he's at such a disadvantage because of his height), but I guess not...

Something tells me this dude doesn't even work on his game much during the offseason; just a lot of drinks, chicks, and clubs....maybe works out here and there, but no real workout schedule.

I was describing a specific scenario that Ty Lawson may have been in. I have no idea if that was or wasn't the scenario he was in.

I work in an office so it's a little different. I'm assuming these dudes don't shower before they go to practice and hes obviously sweating some of it out.
