LeBron beating Celtics' big 3s in the playoffs with Wade and Bosh or Kobe beating the big C's in the finals with Gasol?

The Lakers barely beat the Celtics in 2010. The frontline of Los Angles really did a number on Boston during that series with their size with altering shots and getting rebounds, especially with Kendrick Perkins injured.

The 2011 Celtics team was slightly better than the team in 2010 and the Miami Heat beat them in five games.

I'd go with Miami.

Neither team was at full strength, especially the '11 team with all the centers injured. If the 2 O'Neal's were able to contribute anything at all the Heat would have had a much harder time.

* big 4 ... http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/rondora01.html

and...

11 & 7 Bosh for 3 games
or
7 & 5 & Bynum for 7 games
:confusedshrug:

and here's the sidekick stats:

21 5 5 Wade (+1 spg, 1 bpg)
or
18 11 3 Gasol (+2 bpg)
:confusedshrug:

to me that's all about even, more or less, stats aren't perfect indicators one way or another..

teamwise I was more surprised the Lakers pulled it off, they may have had the slightly weaker team if only because Kobe was getting a little older now and way up there in total rings, so while I did *think* he was going to get this one, it was a tough series with so many variables, so I didn't really know... and actually, they almost didn't, game went down to the closing minutes (the most memorable part of series) before victory...

individually, Bron's game 6 is a memorable game in a more memorable series because of the Paul Pierce clutch shot that sealed the close game 5 win for Celts and put more pressure on still-unproven Heat than they wanted..

EDIT: as for 2008 vs. 2011 ... well, I mean, just watch the closing games ..

Neither are that impressive to be honest...2010-12 Celtics weren't that good to begin with (because of age and injuries). They pretty much willed their way deep into the playoffs by having a heart of a champion. That there, I'm definitely impressed with.

Garnett became half of a player he used to be after that 2009 injury. That was the biggest blow. Allen's knee problem was another problem they had too.

That 2010 Finals series shouldn't have gone to 7 games if Pau showed up on the road in Boston. Then you add the Big Baby/Nate game that extended. I felt like the Lakers were still kinda mentally weak for allowing that series to go that far. But eventually, the Celtics willpower couldn't overcome their old, broken down bodies when they couldn't hit a shot in the second-half of that Game 7.

Doc Rivers screwed up game 7 by starting and overplaying Rasheed Wallace; wore him out. Should have kept him s a reserve and kept the rotation intact. Start either Scalabrine or Shelden Williams and have them just box out Bynum and try for rebounds. The C's lost game 7 because they were one big short.

If it was Phoenix Shaq, the Heat might have lost in 7 (and if Miami Shaq they guaranteed lose in 7)... but then they'd be losing to a team with 5 all-stars...

I like to play the "what if this guy is healthy" game but only when it makes some sense.. Shaq was way past his prime by 2011, one foot in retirement, I don't think it's fair to say "what if he was healthier"? that 19th year of his long career...

whereas it is a little fair to say that with, say, T-Mac in 2009 -- it would have only been his 11th year.. if he has no career ending injury, the addition of him to the Rockets' 2009 roster might have been good enough to snag one extra win vs. Lakers -- Rockets become 2009 champs..
(also very fair to play that game with 2009 Celtics & K.G., needless to say, we see what he his effect was before and after that injury..)

Kobe because Bosh/Wade >>> Gasol.
