Which team will be higher in the standings next season ? Both should be able to compete for the division title along with Boston.

in 2-3 years the Porzingis led knicks will be a top 3 team in the east.

Knicks have better players, but Nets coaching >>>>> Knicks coaching. Nets will probably have the better record.

Nets have the better franchise, coaching, and definitely the better fans.

Where do you guys see each team in the East standings ? Will both make the playoffs ?

Nets are a fire sale so Knicks should be better. I'm not ready to give up on Melo yet.

Nets will trade to take on more salary like they do every year. I think they'll be better. Sorry I can't be more REAL today.

I hope so. Kid does not look like a typical overhyped Euro bum.

Jared Jack? Shane Larkin? Bargs?

This right here should answer the question.

I don't think it's that cut and dry.

PG: Calderon should be better if he's healthy; otherwise it's a wash.

SG: ISO Joe over Afflalo

SF: Melo over RHJ

PF: Young over Priz/Williams

C: Brook over Robin

I think the main advantages for the Knicks are PG (if Calderon is 100%) and BP on either team in Melo. Nets main advantages are Brook and Young front court, better bench (debatable ?), and better coach.

It should be clos all year tfor both teams especially if they are both healthy. Main question for me is can both make the playoffs ? In this conference, anything can happen after Cleveland and the filler 3-4 teams.

Oh, I agree. But Nets PG position is God-awful, Zinger is gonna develop quicker than a lot of people realize and Knicks have a leg up on rebuilding.

Nets are hanging a lot on Brook's feet.

Nets are gonna trade Joe Johnson any day now.. (hopefully to Cavs who need his shooting > J.R. Smith) ..

Knicks have no excuse, they have Mello, and if this Porzingis kid is actually any good..

but even in East I don't think the Knicks roster of Mello&scrubs can make playoffs.. (unless this Porzingis kid is actually any good..)

So Miami is a guaranteed playoff birth unless Bosh misses the whole season again. So that pushes one of Nets or Boston out. Boston didn't get worse so right now the Nets are fighting for 8th seed with Indiana and Detroit. The Knicks are just a tier below.

Melo is so much better than anything Brooklyn has to offer that it's not even funny.

Even if the Nets are a more cohesive unit (which is not cut-and-dry), the talent discrepancy is pretty large.

Call me crazy, but I really like what the Knicks have done this offseason. The moves, and the team, complement Melo well.

I also think that with Williams or Porzingis being better-than-expected the Knicks could be an actual good team this season.

Let's say Brook gets injured, which is bound to happen...

Larkin
Bogdanovic
Johnson
Young
Bargnani

That's a horrible starting lineup. Knicks will be better.

You're not crazy - I like what they did. But they better bring it. This time next year the joke will hopefully be over.
