View Full Version : How many titles would OKC have if not for injuries the last three years?

saw this thread on another forum.

I think that they would have won it this year. If LeBron alone can take it to 6 games against warriors then westbrook, Durant and Ibaka would have won it all this year if they were healthy.

spurms >>> thunder

Joe Crawford screwed the Spurs out of going to the Finals in 2012. OKC were the inferior team- I wish that the Thunder made it to the Finals every one of those years...the Heat wouldn't have lost a single one

2013 was the year. They were looking like the best team going into the playoffs. And then the goon injures Westbrook and it was a miserable ending with the Grizz bullying KD.

Few things:

- 2012 was their best roster (and they were fully healthy), and they still lost
- Perkins and Fisher played significant minutes (regardless of injuries)
- Coached by Scott Brooks
- Predictable style of iso ball. High turnover and low assist totals

Yeah..not enough evidence to give them the hypothetical ring over more deserving teams like the Heat, Spurs, and Warriors.

Meh, most they could've gotten was 3.

2 is more likely, though.

They couldn't even beat the Heat when they still had James Harden

what makes you think they could've won a title?

OKC is not the only team with injured players, so if we assume they were all healthy, we need to assume that all other teams were healthy at all times and in that case NBA landscape would be very different - Portland would be powerhouse with Oden / Roy / Aldridge, Lakers with healthy Howard / Kobe /Nash would be way more competitive, Spurs with healthy Parker / Ginobili / Duncan / Kawhi would start the most recent play off run from one of top 3 places... GSW did not have Bogut for better parts of the last two seasons,Curry was out in 2012, Griffin skipped his first NBA season... Memphis with healthy Conley would take GSW to 7th game for sure, Randolph missed almost complete season 2 years back.... OKC has steep drop after top 3 (in the past 4 ) players, and even if they were fully healthy, they could not win with Perkins at center...

Lol @ this thread. OKC is so overrated on here.

Zero, no way would they have beaten any of the championship teams from recent years.

No depth.

Since Harden left, they've only beaten Miami one time.

Still 0 imo. In 2013, they would've lost to the Heat again imo, although they had a lesser version of Wade, they had better depth than the year before and Okc was actually worse from losing Harden. There was no guarantee they get by the Spurs and i think 2014 showed this to be the case.

For this year they woudln't have beat the Warriors and i also don't see it as a given that they would beat any of Rockets, Clippers, Grizzlies or Spurs. Its silly to assume that OKC would've been guaranteed a finals trip.

maybe 2013. definitely not either of the other years. ibaka wasn't going to lead them past the spurs who would have bounced back in game 7 had it gone that far. savvy vets v young gunners. and this past season was going to tough for anybody. the problem has been in the coach since seattle, thank god a change was finally made.

what makes you think they could've won a title?

Because they were a better team in 13 than in 12...and the Heat were easily worse in the 13 finals than they were in 12.

None of this is a lock, but I think they likely win 1 title with full health over the last 3 years.

I think 0, 1, and 2....are possible outcomes....with 1 being the most likely imo.
