Just started doing this

Back has never felt better. Head is in a better position with no pillow, airway is open allowing more oxygen and in turn better circulation and blood flow. Airway is fully open like they teach. Every First Aid trainee is taught that the head must be tilted back for airway to open up effectively. If head is raised/forward, like sleeping WITH a pillow, the stomach is exposed and you air blowing air into the stomach of the victim. This is not good because you don't want stomach acid vapors coming up your throat during the night. IMO I find it's easier to sleep on my back on the floor than on a matress. I always end up sleeping on my side in a bad posture on a mattress. Wake up not feeling as groggy, and don't feel like one side of my body is tight, which has been ****ing up my squat and deadlift and prepped my for injury essentially...

J money what do you think about sleeping on the floor? I'm sure you'll have a thing or two to say because you seem like the spiritual/natural type.

Main purpose I'm doing this is for the postural benefits

I am a notorious couch potato and no matter how much stretching I do, it never seems to be enough. Perhaps sleeping 8 hours of good posture will pay massive dividends.

Been looking at these animals recently and just in awe of how ****ing athletic and natural they are. The athleticism is unreal.

i like sleeping on a floor or flat surface. good for my back problems and it just feels natural so to speak.

my bed is a 4x6x2 matrix of milk crates (which double as storage space), a system of connected wooden planks which fold up as needed, and a thin futon that sits on top. cheap, versatile and healthy.

It's funny

I remember all the times I've been forced to sleep on the floor... Someone else had the couch... I always was comfortable and I'd always wake up feeling better... Same with camping under the stars...

no, but my bed is on the hard side. it's good for your back. soft mattresses will f--k you up in the long run.

Don't 'sleep' on the floor

But lie down on the floor and put my feet on the wall....to relax

Slept for some time a couple of weeks ago. I had a yoga mat under, it really felt good and fresh. However, when the air is wet (rainy), it somewhat feels wet off the floor. I'll come back to it however, makes me wake up easier, and doesn't feel so lazy to get up. I still use a pillow however. To lose it would be the next step.

I sleep on a hard futon and a super thin pillow by choice. Don't like fluffy pillows or really soft beds

Love sleeping on the floor. I believe in Japan or China they sleep on the floors as a norm.

I like sleeping on the floor, in my backyard on the lawn earth grounded, or on my massage table. Position being on my back, heels touching, feet open, arms by my side, palms up, head straight. It's the perfect position for circulation and healing. The only thing I would want is some slight vibration though.

I have been sleeping on the floor since my early teenage years, at first it was because of necessity due to no money or no room to sleep anywhere else. Not gonna lie to you, I remember my rib cage being a bit sore the first week or so.

But I noticed that when I ran track I felt a lot better on days I slept on the floor vs on couch or cushions. After a while I started sleeping on the floor full time and never looked back. If I sleep on the bed for a few days it just doesn't feel right.

Now that I am married things getting complicated cause I want to sleep with my wife but I hate sleeping on the bed. For now during work week I sleep on the floor in a separate room and during weekend and Fridays on the bed. Not sure how long I can do this.

Personally anyone that sleeps on the bed And thinks sleeping on the floor is unacceptable is a missing out , sleeping on the floor is the best.

interesting. it sounds like for various sleeping styles, a hard floor can be absolutely legendary...... or just suck balls, lol.

i read an article about half a year ago which posited that different sleeping positions linked-up to different personality types. myself, i like snoozing on my side or on my back. that's supposed to say something about my personality.

bonus pts: either way works with a slit-bearer, too! i forget what the article had to say about the rest of that.

i'm the same way but i sleep more comfortably on my back... sometimes i to tense from the day for that though. what other sleeping positions? here we go (http://www.minq.com/fitness/1611/9-common-sleeping-positions-and-what-they-say-about-you#slide/2/0)

The Fetal position is very popular. Those who sleep this way are described as having a tough exterior, but on the inside they are very shy and sensitive.

a Yearner very open with people and inviting. However, they can be a little suspicious of people and are often very cynical. Yearners are also very slow at making decision, but once their mind it made up about something they stick to it.

Log sleepers are very sociable people who love to engage with all kinds of individuals. They are very trusting, which can sometimes leave them very gullible.

Soldier sleepers live up to their name, they are people who tend to take themselves very seriously and are very structured. They have high expectations for themselves and others around them.

As the name implies, freefall sleepers are very free personality types. They are very sociable people and can also be brash at times. Although they show such a free spirit, freefall sleepers are secretly nervous on the inside and have an over-sensitivity to criticism.

The starfish is by far the least preferred sleep style. Sleepers in this style lie on their backs with their legs stretched out, and their arms stretch up by their head. People who prefer this unconventional style are very loyal friends, and make their friends a huge priority in their lives.

These hybrid sleepers are characterized by an attitude of flexibility and a go-with-the-flow nature. They tend to be easily persuaded by others.

As you might expect, Pillow Huggers place high importance on the bonds in their lives, in terms of friendships, family, and relationships. They tend to be people-pleasers, and may attempt to help others instead of themselves on occasion.

Again, this is not sleep position, but whether you snore or not can reveal something about you. Researchers have found that people who snore are more likely to have extreme emotions, which manifest in hyperactivity, aggression, or depression..... Snorers are known for their passion and their ability to live each moment to its fullest.

Nothing much to say Gif, you nailed it. It's healthier, simply because a very soft mattress will accommodate to the shifts in your spine from tossing and turning and put you in worse alignment.

Beginning two hours into the night, (as you already now) it is stressed that you avoid electronical devices, too many racy thoughts, and consume foods rich in tryptophan and fat (turkey and banana) alongside decreasing your body temperature.. preferrably through a cold bedroom and cold[er] shower.

Recommended to place a short wrapped up towel behind the back of your knees, and one on your cervical spine for backsleepers. And a small pillow in between your knees as well as right-side sleepers.

And a Dr. recommends foot massage and slowly doing the spinal stretch to further ease into sleep.
Briefly,

Rubbing your feet beginning with your ankle to toes. on the dorsal part (the one you can see while looking down on your feet) starting from the inner area (closest to the midline). Then starting from the outer of your plantar area (one that touches the ground) across to the right area). Likewise with the right. And then some very light, slow hip stretches (just like what you would do prior to preparation for squats.)

Stop reading here if you don't believe in the Unseen/Occult and require visual scientific evidence to form the way you think

Kept reading?

Devout Muslims prior to sleeping recite
- Surah Al Nas (A rhythmic, brief Surah that focuses one's energy on seeking Allah's help from internal strife, under the premise that Man is an arena for the forces of darkness and light. - See the Qu'ran for the former, and Khomeini's ethics for the latter)
- Surah Al Falaq (A Surah that asks Allah for protection against outside forces including a) Darkness and Ignorance.
b) Witchcraft.
c) Evil eye of jealous humans who hold grudges.
- Ayat Al Kursi (The Verse of the Throne, a palindromic Suraa, in which Allah)
- A brief Dua asking for God's protection, understanding that every single night Allah (SWT) takes your soul and keeps it for a duration of time and then returns it upon the body in the morning. If you don't return to your body... then that's when you dead, son.

Then, they blow it on their chests and cover their body with it. Knowing that sound and words of power, also seen in Hakka of Egypt and the 6 healing sounds in China have legitimate effects on an unseen part of the human body. The soul.

I can only tell you that during a stage of my life when my Imam was weak, I've had consistent nightmares.

T-rexes rapidly sprinting towards me while I'm on foot with a few loved ones desperately making way to survival.

Invisible spirits throwing family back and forth into an electrical outlet.

Crazyz Grudge girls smiling maniacally with MK Mileena's teeth while stabbing herself and singing some Manson lullaby.

Feeling pain in the exact lower back area

Having heard that every human is accompanied with both Kiramin Katibin (Angels on the right and left) and a Jinn (behind them leading them astray) as pictured above.

Moreover, a guy I know reported a salvia experience where he felt depression when seeing short grey aliens (the kind I've seen during sleep paralysis) manipulating various time frames of his life during the trip.. like an illustration you see when flipping the pages of a sketchbook.
These exact aliens continued to surface in my dreams and have haunted Doomsday Dallas as well.

These creatures who do not bend to the rules of the space-time continuum, and feed off negative energy.

MaJINN Buu was derived from them, JINN from Tekken, and Saiya JINN. As well as Vampires, Leprechauns.

Also Faustian deals for glory power.

Fast forward to this past summer,

After having strengthened the Imam and really focused on doing good works.. on the Night of Power in a dream I saw the left half of my body zap with an electricity that rendered it void. ..

A few days later while having a Lucid Dream, instead of doing the typical thing, mustered every bit of concentration on God.

And saw beautiful vegetation on a downward slope.. trees of every single type from, fruits of all type.. the water was a silvery white hue and heard the voices of loved ones laughing innocently in joy and parasailing.

Consider it.

Bump.

Not sure if shortly after or before this thread I began sleeping on the floor but I'm down to sleeping on a sheet with a small pillow. Sleeping on a bed just doesn't feel right anymore and I feel so supported when I'm on my back. I use gravity to my advantage to push my shoulders down which counteracts any slouching/forward posturing you may do during the day. Stretches your quads/hip flexors as well since they slouch into a mattress and I no longer get that stiff feeling when I wake up.

People think I'm crazy but there's nothing that exists in nature that feels like a mattress so it's not logical to me to sleep on a mattress. (Still have to have one in the meantime for when a girl comes over. Lean it against the wall.) Arguably our spines haven't evolved to accommodate a mattress.

It's very minimalist too. I can now do yoga in my room and also stationary cycle using my bike trainer. Beds take up too much damn space especially if you're in a tiny apartment.

The physio I see really supports me in doing this as well. Sleeping takes up 1/3 of your life. You better be in a good posture while doing it.

Sleeping on the floor is great. I loved doing it whenever I have no bed to crash on if all the rooms aren't vacant or I'm at a guest/family house, I'd offer to sleep on the floor. The best sleep I'd ever get in the world. Also, better for your back
