What are the possible reasons for the Cavs doing so much better despite Lebron's inferior stats?

What are the possible reasons for the Cavs doing so much better despite Lebron's inferior stats? Now you know the east had some great teams and were much more competitive back then compared to the 2000s.

Playoff stats were pretty close though.

MJ: 35/7.5/7/2.5/1 on 51/28/80. ECF loss.

LeBron: 35/9/7.5/1.5/1 on 51/33/75. ECF loss.

East back then was a slaughter house compare to now. Lebron played in the weakest conference of all time.
