That's very cheap for someone who had a great game in the NBA Finals.

All that negotiating so he could take $1.5 million? Dude short changed himself so he might get a good deal with the new cap.

Wow, great dealfor the Cavs. Only $1.2M and he'll work extra hard to earn a contract :applause:

With the way the league throws out money now I'm surprised he didn't get 5

Smart. He signs a 1 year contract to raise his stock more and next season someone will sign him to a max contract. You know how dumb some of these GM's are.

1.2m is low I don't care what happens next year. They could have at least gave him 2m. Anyway, has Tristan Thompson signed a deal yet? They still have to sign JR too I guess.

TT hasn't signed and JR hasn't either. I'm sure if Cleveland can't bring someone else in they tell JR to sign for cheap or kick rocks

JR said he has gotten offers but wanted to stay with the Cavs. But I don't know why he would opt out if that was the case. He's not Lebron or Love. :confusedshrug:

Is TT restricted?

rose average 21.7 on that series :coleman:

Not a smart move by him IMO.
Could be out of the league after this contract, should have looked for 3 years and 10m somewhere else.

Banking on the cap rise next season. Smart boi.

He's a third string point guard that can't shoot and below average offensively.
He needed to bank on his finals play now, because that may be the best moment of his career.

In all fairness, that's all he's really worth. He had that one good game in the Finals where he had 20 points with very good defense and lots of hustle plays, but aside from that, he's probably one of the worst players in the entire league and is lucky to even be in the NBA right now.

I know of guys who play overseas right now who are objectively more talented than Delly so he's very lucky to be where he is right now.

A steal for the Cavs. A top 5 defender in the league for that price.

Can't shoot? He hit 40% of his threes last year regular season

maybe he just wants the ring. which one of the true contenders would give him a 3 year 9-10 mio?
its the only reasonable explanation hat he just wants a ring?
could possibly demand more money on a low-middle seed team or in europe....but then there is his incredible weak FG%

at the very least, he can give some solid defensive production for 20-something minutes. he deserves more than 1.2m in this day and age. he should fire his agent.

He's not worth more than $1m..
Well, there definitely worse players making a hell of a lot more. We have ok players like Deandre Jordan making 20 million per year.

Delly is a mediocre player, but I think he's better than players like Ramon Sessions or Norris Cole.

He also averaged 15 mpg on that exercise bike in the series.

There are also better players who have signed this offseason for the same amount of money: West, Green, Smith, Stoudemire etc.

He's only 24 so I believe he can be better. What he should strive to be is a PG 3 and D player.

Defense is gritty but that jumpshot is not as consistent. if he can check PG's and hit his open 3's, he can have a Bruce Bowen like career.

BigTicket
07-28-2015, 02:29 PM
His main weakness is that he can't finish near the basket, at all. He hit just 31% of his 2's last year ...

He is banking on getting paid after this season but it is not going to be that easy. He will be fighting for minutes behind Kyrie and now Mo Williams is in the mix. He could easily see the bench if Mo performs. He doesn't have the best opportunity to get playing time there

DCL
07-29-2015, 12:42 AM
he'll look better on offense when he's the 4th or 5th option. he was expected to be the second option in the finals after a couple big games. obviously he fell back to earth and ran out of gas when he was playing heavy minutes. but i think he can contribute decently by providing tough defense for 20-something minutes while occasionally hitting some wide open shots. still think he's worth more than 1.2m relative to all players with their crazy contracts.
