:biggums:

36 years old, 6-4 and 3/4, and 205 pounds.

He's John Havliceks size... and he's going to be playing Power Forward.

This is not good.

lebrons basically a power forward and kobe bodied him up on offense and defense like it wasnt anything out of the norm.

hes matched up with 6-8, 6-9 guys a bunch and they all outweighed him

kobe might not be a great fighter. but the dudes strong and uses leverage well

and its obviously not to match up with other teams traditional PF's.. its only when other teams go small

Kobe should say,
"sure Byron. If you play shooting guard I'll do it"

CavaliersFTW

Point guard through small forward I totally understand, Kobe really is versatile enough to play those positions extremely proficiently. But PF requires a lot of boxing out and fighting and he's old now so that will be a lot of wear and tear so it just doesn't make sense to me to suddenly tell him to body big players up, like wtf that's going to injure him or destroy his legs for sure.

DonDadda59

Jordan played a lot of 3 and some 4 when he was on the Wizards. Figures Bean would bite that too. :facepalm

Legends66NBA7

I mean, Kobe is a pretty strong guy and I've seen him box out well along with using his speed to play defense well against better plays. But he's just at point where he'll just wear down faster despite all that old man strength.

Also, when did Kobe shrink to 6'4?:facepalm

Some people need to think before they type.
Will he play power forward against Blake Griffin? No.
Will he be the 2nd biggest player on the court matched up against another swingman at times? Yes.

Kobe can play one, two and three. There's no doubt in my mind. And there's some games. against some teams, where he'll probably play four.

He never shrank to 6' 4"... he's admitted he measured 6-4 and 3/4 without shoes.

That's his height. No matter what foreshortened pics you try to use, it won't change that. And that's not really the important bit here, as Charles Barkley and Gus Johnson are two all-time great PF's who played at that same height. The issue is his age, and his weight. He's 36 years old, and 205 lbs.

Julius Randle is that bad that Kobe has to start over him at PF. Great future for the lakerz.

Basically saying we will play some small ball. Didn't Andre just win FMVP playing at the 4. We definitely have size with Hibbert, Bass, Black, Randle, and Nance so Im not concerned about this.

His post game is already equal to many PFs - he has all-time level post skill/repertoire and mid-range shooting touch.. And he can spread the floor.

OMG... It just occurred to me... MJ's goat post game playing PF in today's small ball league!!

Holy crap... Elgin Baylor as PF in today's game.... Yikes.. Oscar, Magic, Dominique, Bernard King, Adrian Dantley!!!.. Today's game soft af

kobe and pierce matched up a hundred times before... the past year pierce was the small lineup PF sometimes

this is how the new nba offenses are... positions arent relative to height/weight anymore

kobe might be matching up with another guy whos almost the same size on the other end

:facepalm ISH

lebrons played center in small lineups before. kobe f*cked him up in 1 on 1 plays a ton of times...

People overrating. Kobe might see very limited time at the 4 against small lineups. Big deal. Not like he's going to bang against Blake.

GimmeThat
07-28-2015, 01:09 AM
well, the NBA team averages about 12.5 to 16 turnovers per game.

even if you were to go for points off of turnover, we are raising the same argument of 'could a pull up 3 off of transition ever be a better basket than the unguarded 2'

in the scenario that iso plays were to be eliminated at the PF position

surely, that is saying there are better man to man defenders at the 2.

Warriors won a title with 6-6 Draymond Green playing at Center in the Finals..

It's not like Kobe will play PF 10-20 minutes a game...only when teams are running small ball line-ups and he's matched up against guys closer to his size/weight.

"The one thing that we wanted to do and accomplish through this draft and through free agency was to try and be a little more versatile, have some versatility. So I think (Clarkson, Russell, Williams) can definitely do that. Kobe can play one, two and three. There's no doubt in my mind. And there's some games. against some teams, where he'll probably play four. With his tenaciousness, the way he guards people and when his mind is set, if I say 'Kobe, you've got him,' he takes that as a challenge. You know how he is. He'll compete."

Another non-story when you read the full quote.

ITT, dumb kids post dumb shit.

It'll obviously be for certain match ups and even then, probably no more than a handful of minutes. All playoffs long you guys are talking about how small ball is the future. Well gentlemen, this constitutes as small ball. and lets not forget, a 6'4" kobe is still nasty strong.

I hope Byron Scott realizes he's the stop gap coach.... As soon as the lakers get a sense of talent and are ready to be playoff driven, they will get rid of Scott and get another coach.

He to me is the definition of great assistant coach to have but not complete enough to be a head coach.

He's not an X and O's guy like a Rick Carlisle
He's not as good at building relationships like Doc Rivers
He doesn't have the ability to lead great assistants his way like a Popavich or Kerr.

What does Scott offer to make you think a team can content with him? J. Kidd ran those Nets teams...
