This is such a sad f'n story.
I want to laugh at this quote, but I think it's more telling of how badly he ****ed up his life and career...
Four years sober, Baker now works as a Starbucks barista in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. And thanks to former SuperSonics owner and Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, Baker now is aiming to become a manager
From NBA star to Starbucks manager.

hate to say it but the only thing that can give you the power to come back and live happily after blowing a $100mill is God. these rock bottoms are the situations where religion really helps people.

I wonder what his stance on raising the Minimum Wage is.

Respect to him to swallow his pride and go work at a Starbucks. Wouldn't have been easy for a dude that was a multi-millionaire.

This.
A lot of dudes in his position try to knock off convenience stores or run drugs etc.
Gotta give him credit for accepting his limited options and choosing the best one.

I remember that Baker had some drinking problems. Just read the article it said that Vin owned the Starbucks, and he's like the manager.

The biggest question is did Vin Baker put "Former NBA All-Star" as his work experience :lol
He probably didnt. Would make him overqualified.

No...what would be a sad story is if he was dead right now from his addiction. The guy has taken back control of his life and is a good dude who works with a lot of youths.

He must like it at starbucks. He could easily find an NBA job on a bench some where.

Every Starbucks employee I've come across is high on something. I think Vin Baker hit the jackpot.

When you acquire that much money, you're no longer just feeding yourself and your immediate family. You're feeding the IRS, friends, distant family members and cousins, charity organizations, strippers, accountants, agents, managers, investors and business partners. Last two and IRS are probably the major killers.
I think Curt Schilling, former MLB world series champion, lost like $100 million on a video game company he funded.
I have the game Schilling made. It's got nice graphics, it's an ok game. Kingdoms of Amular. They should have made more games, they had potential.
