Which player was better?
DonDadda59

Jordan, easily. Shaq just had far and away the better team. Penny Hardaway before his injuries was a bonafide franchise player and potential ATG. He was on the Magic in Shaq's second season.
Jordan had MVPs, DPOYs, scoring titles, and a host of all NBA selections to his name. Don't think Shaq even made an all NBA team until his 4th season.

first shaq coming out of the gates
then jordan doing his triple double thing
then jordan winning three championships
then shaq while jordan played baseball
then jordan winning another three championships
then kobe takes over

Shaq was all-NBA 3rd team in his sophomore year.

Shaq was all-NBA 3rd team in his sophomore year.
My mistake. Got confused because he didn't make a first team until 1998.
But yes, Shaq was a perennial 3rd teamer during the first years of his career, making one 2nd team. Crazy how stacked the center position was.
Yes, Hakeem, Shaq, DRob, Ewing, Zo, Mutombo  man I wish I saw those guys :( I mean I saw old Shaq Zo and Deke but that isn't the same

Both set the league on fire the moment they stepped on the court. It's close but I would give the nod to MJ.

The second tier centers like Brad Daugherty, Vlade Divac and Rik Smits would be top tier today.
Makes it that much more amazing that Jordan dominated an era of legit bigs with Cartwright and Longley as his centers.

Lol, Pippen wasn't top ten in the first few Bulls NBA titles.
Shaq carried Kobe in their first three titles, not the other way around...

Could it be that a 6'8" player would be better suited to guard a 6'9" player than a 6'6" player would be?
Doesn't really take a coaching genius to figure this out.
Jordan was far and away the best player not only in that series, but in the entire world. Stop it son.

Kobe without Shaq or pau
06 lost 3-4 first round while giving up in the 2nd half of game 7.
07 swept in the first round.
And this is Kobe at his absolute peak.
And these suns teams would lose to any of those teams the bulls lost to in a 7 game series.
And lol at arguing the fmvp against a player who averaged 30 and 10, a game winner and a game where he hit like 13 straight shots ending with one of the most iconic moments still heralded today.

lets just all admit that if kobe let a guy shoot 80% in a game 1 loss... then his coach demoted him to defending role players in the finals and kobes team mate locked up that same guy for the next 4 games in a back door sweep.. are we as an ISH community really gonna honestly and truly deny the fact that every single person on here would be sh*tting on kobe and saying that defensive role player was the real finals mvp? how is this sh*t any different than the iggy FMVP selection over curry?????????

Actually, 3ball has posted exactly how much Pip defended Magic and when you break it all down, it isn't as much as you think. BTW, who guarded Magic when Pippen fouled out in Game 3 and the game went to OT and led them to the victory to grab the control of the series?
