Why wouldn't he? He'll still be one of the best players in the world...

I haven't heard any news as to whether he'll play, but I can see him wanting to just take the summer off. Playing into June for 5 straight years has to take its toll on him. He's not 25 anymore. That's more than a full season's worth of playoff games.

Kobe turned the mind set of USA basketball around in 2007. Particularly in regards to defense, skill, an intimidation factor. And saved us in the final minutes of the 2008 Gold Medal Game.

With Wade's help carrying the team through the first 3.5 quarters.

LeBron saves us on three separate ocassions in the 2012 Olympics. vs Brazil, vs Lithuania, and vs Spain in the Gold Medal Game.

So ... there is that. I'm not holding him accountable in 2004 as a 19 year old or 2006 as a 21 year old for USA coming up short.

If he wins the title in 2016, I say he should go for it. However if he loses, I say he should stay away and just try to get better for next year in order to Contend.
