I love Warhammer. I have a Skaven army and an Undead army (pre-mummy/vamplord split). Also a Grey Knights 40k army.

Is this going to be turn based? The last turn based Warhammer game was kinda bad. But this looks cool.

"Total War: Warhammer is a real-time tactics video game with turn-based strategy element."

Turn based is when you're looking at the map, making buildings, recruiting, exploring etc. The battles are real time just like in the OP. But, you can just auto resolve them if you like within the turn based map

This is a long video, but just check out a minute or two to get an idea....it'll be like the video in the OP, PLUS this

Unlike the video above, the map might not have "fog of war" covering it until you explore

meh. if this is based on the Total War franchise i hated most of them. i got suckered by stupid reviews into buying them twice and both times i must have played a few hours before getting bored.

thank God i stopped gaming since i'd probably still end up buying so many games i hated based on stupid hype. the way game sites hype up FPS's, indie, and especially narrative games these days is retarded

I hope they keep it like the table top game. GW has just shit all over the warhammer franchise though with a stupid reboot to try and make money so I don't know how this game set in the old world fits in with the new version of the table top game.

I don't understand why they keep making Warhammer games...nobody cares or buys them. Warhammer is one of the reasons THQ doesn't exist anymore. That Droid is a table top nerd shouldn't surprise anyone though.

There were rumours that the next edition was going to be a total reboot that would remove a bunch of armies and introduce a space marines type faction.

They've just released a new game called age of sigmar that fits all the lore rumours and has introduced a new gold armoured space marine type angel army, removed points values, made a bunch of existing stuff unusable, more skirmish focuses, less tactical, round bases etc

I haven't heard officially if it's a spin off or if it's the new warhammer though, the rumours were firm that it was the only fantasy warhammer from now on but maybe they'll have changed their minds after the huge amount of backlash to the rumours.

I haven't played in ages but I've got 5 or 6 large armies kicking around because I always enjoyed the modelling and painting, so if they became unplayable it'd be a kick in the teeth if any of my old friends who still play wanted to play at some point.

 Skaven were always my favourite

Oh god... I just went to the GW site. Fantasy is a huge mess now, you're right. Ugh. Oh well.

I just went there myself for the first time since they emailed me about the new release. Fantasy section is gone now so looks like this is the new fantasy like was rumoured.

The other part to the rumour was that they would release something like monthly releases that would be timed and limited in number, so if you want the best army you need to keep buying the units for it as they release it or risk missing out on it completely. The whole thing was designed to bring in cash and screw over the existing fan base.

They did the same thing with Necromunda back in the day. When they released that new "superhuman" Van Saar faction the game went to shit.

Orlocks forever bro!

I never played necromunda but I did like some of the figures, I played quite abit of mordheim though, the whole cancellation of their special games range was to stop people being able to play small scale for cheap too.

It was pretty fun even if people did assume only nerds play it.

I've never played Warhammer but I'm still really excited for this, despite past dissapointments with total war games. I've played the Lord of the rings mod of medieval 2, which was fantastic. So the fact that they're officially doing something seemingly similar, with Sega potentially not rushing the developers (they made CA release rome 2 8 months before they wanted) has me excited for the potentialof this game. Since its a new direction, I expect this to be more of a "labor of love" than a money grab.

Hopefully they do it justice
