View Full Version : LeBron quitting the '11 Finals: Alpha?

LeBron could see that Wade was going to win the 2011 FMVP, and with no chance of earning it himself, he sabotaged his team to lose the series.

Was this incident alpha or beta?

Neither. It was omega.

He definitely screwed Wade that series. I feel so bad for him. 3x champ, 2x finals MVP would have put him right up there with Kobe.

he threw the series

dont really know how its any different than the blacksocks scandal with shoeless joe jackson or the coaching betting scandal with pete rose

youre only replacing 1 personal gain with another

lebron rigged a series and wanted his own team to lose

to lebron... what he wanted to happen was worth more than the measly few thousand dollars that got the other 2 guys banned for life

Theres a difference between quit and choke

i think he would have choked regardless

but he infact quit/threw the series before giving himself a chance to fail

You cannot get any lower as a player when you quit.

You cannot get any lower as a player when you quit.

you can

just not trying is one thing

actually trying ..... but to lose rather than win..

thats a whole different level

since a guy can just not give a f*ck. mail it in

but lebron did give a f*ck. he cared a great deal. so much that he wanted wade to fail

9 assists is pretty decent tho. he was playing too much point, Pippenesque.

That was the pussiest series I've ever seen a player have, so I'd hardly consider that "alpha"

He definitely wasn't alpha in that series, but afterward yeah. Still though, had the Heat won in 2011 and had Wade won the FMVP, ISH would still ridicule LeBron anyway for not getting the FMVP over Wade.

As a life long White Sox fan, I gotta stand up for my boy Shoeless Joe...first, he was banned along other Sox players but he always maintained his innocence.

After the White Sox lost the 1919 World Series to the Cincinnati Reds, Jackson and seven other White Sox players were accused of accepting $5,000 each to throw the Series. In September 1920, a grand jury was convened to investigate the allegations.

During the series, Jackson had 12 hits (a Series record) and a .375 batting average—leading individual statistics for both teams. He committed no errors and threw out a runner at the plate.

It has been claimed that the Cincinnati Reds hit an unusually high number of triples to left field where Jackson played during the series,[14] but this is not supported by the contemporary newspaper accounts. According to first hand accounts, none of the triples were hit to left field. In fact, more triples were muffed by Shano Collins than were hit to Jackson. (Collins was ironically listed as the wronged party in the indictments of the conspirators. The indictments claimed he was defrauded of $1,784 ($24,267 today) by the actions of those charged.)

How dare you drag Shoeless Joe Jackson's name through the mud :banghead:

It was unbelievable. You could just literally see the guy going into a shell and wanting nothing to do with the outcome of the games and just deferring time and time again.
