Our brother in the Force, Jordan Maison, is reporting that Disney intends to release multiple live-action Star Wars television shows on Netflix. According to Maison, stemming from the substantial success of Daredevil, and similar to how Netflix is working on a variety of Marvel properties (Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, etc.), Disney plans to continue that relationship with the Star Wars franchise.

Maison reports that Disney is considering as many as three live action Star Wars shows on Netflix. It seems the focus here is on the quality of the production:

"For Lucasfilm this makes a lot of sense, as they want to keep the cinematic feel of the movies going with the TV shows. Netflix allows for such a presentation much better than network television, while also giving them a chance to explore stories and characters which otherwise might not be a good fit somewhere else."

I like the idea of a Star Wars show produced by Netflix, but three of them!? Can't help but think this...

Oh well. I'll still watch every single one nonetheless. As well as the six movies that are coming out in the next five years. And then again. And then again. And again. As well as the sequel sequel trilogy that's probably (definitely) going to be made two years after Episode IX.

I'll watch them but hopefully they don't suck due to low budget. Marvel gets away with their tv series by making it lighter and kind of self aware in it's humour, dc goes for full on seriousness and it just looks like a cheap soap opera.

Daredevil is pretty much the complete opposite of that.

What about Daredevil?

I'm surprised they're going for creative quality over $. They could easily go somewhere like ABC and make a bunch of money, but they seem to be going for more freedom with Netflix. Very smart move on their part. It could work out better in the long term.

This may finally push me over the edge to get a Netflix membership.

this seems to be the general sentiment towards every single sequel on the market

Not really. I mean light as in they have guys like foggy making jokes and theres comedic elements. I don't mean they avoid dark story lines.

I hated him in Daredevil such a boring character.

He was mostly comic relief. Everything else was pretty dark.

They had Russians get their heads smashed by car doors, ninjas burned alive, children getting kidnapped and murdered, etc. It wasn't your traditional Marvel show.

The story line yeah but it's also the colour palette used, if much brighter than the gritty grimdak gotham and arrow go for.

Fair enough. I don't watch Gotham or Arrow, so I have nothing to say on the matter.

You are lucky, I tried but they are like watching days of our lives actors trying to be serious with a bunch of shots that show off their sweaty abs.

They are going to milk the sh#t out of Star Wars. A once great franchise will be reduced to a burnt crisp of garbage.

Idk, public opinion has been down since the prequels. The sequels were a good idea, don't know about all this extra shit.

Smart move. I'm not the biggest fan, but this is a universe that can definitely benefit from getting into different aspects of it. Plus Netflix has a good record for producing quality shows. Depending on who the showrunners are, these could be even better than the films.

Didn't they pay $4 billion to that fat sell out Lucas for the rights? Only makes sense that they would wring every last penny out of that investment.

The good people over at Netflix seem to know what they are doing. They are the new HBO when it comes to putting out quality original content.

Definitely an endless supply of stories to tell in that Galaxy.
