Well at least he's trying to put his life together now instead of being all mopey about how much money is gone. Also looks like he may have overcome his alcoholism. Seen too many former sports players continue to sink. What's Vin is doing now is respectable.

$100 million salary, $50 million after taxes, $45 million after agent fees, $25 million after helping out family and friends, $20 million unknowingly stolen by financial advisors/friends/family/wife, that leaves him with $5 million. No wonder he went broke.

He became a scrub after he got that contract. He will likely be an unmotivated failure for the rest of his life.

Vin Baker was/is a piece of shit. Just like Shawn Kemp and Derrick Coleman.

He had enough money to buy a house he and his wife live in, and he works a modest job to make money for his day to day and to keep busy (because sitting idle at home isn't good for him). He has wife, kids, and he's happy. Considering he was on a path that was going to leave him penniliess and dead i think this is probably better.

Pretty sure statutory thought he owned the store not just managed it. If he didn't then :biggums:

Potentially 70k to manage a starbucks, not bad if you can get it. Hardly a hugely stressful job.

Story said Baker was training to manage a Starbucks. So his pay likely is not that high.

But to address the monetary comments earlier, the salaried portion of a store manager is generally nothing crazy, but they're typically bonus-eligible, which is where they really make their money, assuming they do a good job and hit their numbers.

Of COURSE Starbucks sells franchises. And clearly thats what Vin bought.

And why don't you think players shouldn't own a business after they retire?

They actually really dont

Starbuck succeeds at the expense of cannibalising their own revenue, by opening outlets rapidly and concentrated. No franchisee would buy a franchise to make a loss.

his story is still more pitiful than inspirational.

getting back up is nice and all but he threw it all away. he shouldn't had been down. got no one to blame but himself.

I visited the store where he's working, obviously he was hard to miss. :oldlol: He was a good dude...really humble and genuine. Appreciated that we remembered his Bucks days too. Hope he gets that coaching gig he's after.
