Amongst all the corny 1990 NBA blooper pranks, this one may be the greatest (even topping the Manute Bol/Rick Mahorn head-out-of-the-table situation).

The setup: Muggsy Bogues invites J.R. Reid over to his house for dinner (Reid was a rookie at the time). While watching television, news breaks of a trade that's sent Reid to Philadelphia in exchange for Rick Mahorn. Mahorn, Bogues, and Charles Barkley play their roles to perfection.

filmed in 1990

traded in 92

Traded by Charlotte to the San Antonio Spurs for Sidney Green, a 1993 first-round pick and a 1996 second-round pick on December 9, 1992.

that's genius

its trrble.. he's trrble. rick is bummed and i'm bummed. i thought we were gonna be great together for a few more years. now they bringing this young kid in, i dunno. charlotte probably got the better deal, they get a n experienced veteran forward and we get a little kid who's not ready yet. just a bad bad trade

:lol

For good measure, here's Charles Barkley and Rick Mahorn pranking Dell Curry. Not nearly as good as the Reid one though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3K_KsBPqXGs

that's a small ass tv for an nba player. He'd "only" made a touch over $600,000 in his career at that point, so maybe he was playing it conservative and holding off on the wood paneled projection screen for the time being.

Shit was probably expensive back in day. Plus he simply may not watch a lot of tv. Which was common those days.

funny how J.R. barely seemed to care while it was going on.
