View Full Version : When will Melo have enough?
Honestly, is this dude going to start a new rebuild at 31 years old?
Surely he needs to go somewhere else?
Best case scenario if he stays with the Knicks is that he's a contender again at 33 years old. Which would give him a season, and if he's lucky 2 with near peak abilities.
Clock is ticking..

Why do people keep caring about this?
He re-signed as a free agent. Theyre paying him to play basketball. The team isnt very good. He knew that when he signed.
The world will continue to turn regardless of Carmelo Anthony being on a good team or not.

he just secured his big contract last year. With the new salary cap his salary will not look too bad. Surely he'd be a hot commodity out there if he asked for a trade.

Melo just isn't that kind of franchise player. I honestly don't think he can win while being the best player on his team.

His time expired when he signed that new deal with the Knicks. He isn't the no. 1 option on a Champions team anyway.

I don't think you can compare getting traded to play in NY with Amare on the team to teaming up with Wade and Bosh

Do you HONESTLY believe Melo cares about winning a championship? :oldlol:
The guy probably got down on his knees, formed his hands together and cried asking to be traded to New York in 2011. The Knicks weren't even close to be considered a contender that year. After a shitty 2013-14 season Melo became a free agent and had good teams coming to him. Bulls and Rockets were some of them. But what did he do? He decided to stay with the Knicks. The team was in rebuild mode too, and Melo was 30. If he really wanted to win a ring, he should've gone to the Bulls. All this greedy loser wants is money, money, and even more money. No wonder his dumbass stayed in New York.
He doesn't care about winning. That's why you see him jackin up shots so he can get his points which leads to people around him thinking he's some big superstar. "Oh my god, this guy scores a lot! He MUST be superstar!" HAHAH.
Melo is nothing but a selfish, greedy, hot steaming pile of shit ready to be shovelled into a giant garbage can (aka Roy Hibbert). **** this dude. Forever a loser.

Not at all. I think everything I said perfectly describes him. All he really cares about is money and padding his points with the shot-jacking he does. His will to win is comparable to a billionaire trying to win a $10,000 lottery ticket.
Think about it. If Melo really wanted to win a ring, he would've gone to the Bulls.

If you wanna make the most out of your NBA career, im pretty sure "winning a championship" would be somewhere on the list :oldlol:. If a guy comes in to the NBA, and works his ass off in the gym trying to improve his game almost every single day only to make money and not win a ring makes him look pathetic as shit.

It's not pathetic at all. Some people don't even get a chance to play in the league or stay very long in it. If Melo's smart with his money, he will pretty much guarantee his future generations a great living.
Also, winning a ring is circumstances. The Bulls wouldn't have won this year even with Melo.

So we gonna kill him for being terrible at collusion? :oldlol:
He'll be gone next offseason. So many teams will have cap space next year so some semi-contending team that strikes out in FA will take on his contract i.e. Wizards, Raptors, Grizzlies look like possibilities from looking at their cap situation.

The list of star players that take a notable paycut to go to a winning situation is significantly smaller than the list of star players that take max, or near-max, money for a team that is not as likely to win a title.
If you have some childish sense of all players playing the game just for the love of it and just to win, then go watch college ball. Professional sports are not for you.

You mad? At least he's not like cp3 consistently underperforming with teams that are stacked af. The years he's had decent teams he's actually over performed taking a middle of the road team to wcf and a retirement home to the second round.

I could see this - unless the team gels quickly and Zinger goes off (which the odds are against).

Maybe even a Love for Melo trade could happen. That's really the only situation I see where a contending team would give up great talent for him.

Probably safer to assume this after the upcoming season. If he's healthy and the team is clicking, his value will be pretty high. Don't kid yourself.
IMO, Love's days as a star are over. At this point, the Knicks need another offensive threat... Jax has brought in some decent defensive pieces. I don't see Love or Durant coming to the Knicks.
addendum: I could see the Knicks moving him for some first rounders, absolutely.

This pretty much. Can't be mad at a guy for wanting to make as much money as possible. We all would probably if we had the chance...

Who are you referring to in the first paragraph? Melo or Love? If it's Melo, well sorry to say but that team isn't going to click. They don't have much talent and Melo isn't the carry a bad team to a good record type of player especially past his prime.
More likely what may happen is Love/Lebron have similar issues as last year and Tristan Thompson improves a lot, which results in Lebron pushing to trade Love for Melo, with Lebron moving more of his minutes to SG.

What makes you think Phil would want to do a Love for Melo swap? :biggums:
As a NYer, I would be fine with trading Melo but not for Love. I'd rather a high draft pick or a young player that plays both ways.

He's younger, on a good deal once the new cap hits, and arguably better then Melo. On top of that, I don't see Phil wanting to be on a long drawn out rebuilding.

Unfortunately, I think he wasted the last few years of his prime when he re-signed with the Knicks. I want to see him succeed, but the future doesn't look so bright.
