After the stop, the LMPD officer discovered a water bottle filled with red liquid which was later determined to be codeine.
Way to go, 40 year old father :applause:

The kid's agent probably advanced him some money. It's not like he's still in college anymore. He's drafted and about to earn NBA money, he can accept loans/advances.
Or maybe his pops just bought the thing from the money he makes slangin

Dude chill. You don't know that he used his son's money for Lean. YOU KNOW HE MIGHT'VE EVEN GOT IT FOR FREE, SINCE THE PLUG wants to get in good with the new stud's pops.
It's just lean. it aint that expensive man. AND, it won't be an expensive case. it's a criminal case. easy case. Won't be more than 2-3K in lawyer fee's.

Sure, I mean I get its not a big deal in itself, if it were some average 20 year old kid Id be like who cares. But the dude's a 40 year old father. Give up the lean already. And how retarded do you have to be not to wear your seat belt when youre driving around with a bottle full of it.
Dude just seems ghetto af. What an embarrassment to his kid.

And this is what is wrong with lowering the age requirement. These young athletes don't know how to handle money at all.
Say Russell became a BUST and can barely stay in the league. The money he is spending will not last nor will he have a single dime the minute he is out of the league. A Maserati before he earned his first NBA pay check? He better hope Nike keeps rolling him some dollars.

ummm.... Yes it is, especially if you have even earned your first pay check.
He is probably going to be earning 4.5 - 5.5 million on his first year. 20-30% goes to state and federal taxes and 4%-10% goes to his agent.
Lets just say he earns $4,500,000 minus 10% agent commission minus 30% taxes = $4,500,000 - ($450,000.00 + 1,350,000) = $2,700,000.00
30% is generous income deduction rate as it is.
He buys a Maserati for $250,000.00 and that is approx 10% of his first year salary already. I say that is a unreasonable expense considering he hasnt even earned a pay cheque yet.

More like 40-50% in California.
But obviously if his Dad is that selfish and retarded to have his son buy him that at this point, then drive around with codeine not wearin a belt at 40 years old, who would have ever taught DAngelo sensible money management? His dad is a straight loser.
Feel bad for Russell. Its probably in his own interest to disown this clown but obviously easier said than done when its your own family.

To be more precise...
Based on $4,500,000.00 Annual income paid out on a bi-weekly payment looks like this in California:
Bi-weekly Gross Pay $173,076.92
Federal Withholding $66,825.32
Social Security $7,347.00
Medicare $2,509.62
California $24,308.50
SDI $939.40
Net Pay $71,147.08 which equals to
1.85 Million before he even cuts a piece of pie for his agent.

Hey dumbass, rarely is a brand new car bought with cash. Average household income in the US is what, 60k, a new civic is 25k, OMG how can any american afford a civic when its 40% of their income!!!
High end vehicles are generally leased. That thing is probably 1.5k/month.

Most prisons are private contracted to the government. they just price fix and charge the government a shitload. Those owners are the ones that profit, thats why jails have shit food and conditions (in terms of actual rehab, security etc.) while costing the US a ridiculous amount of tax dollars.

Not arguing that fact except you calling me a dumbass.
My point of my original post was that these young guys don't know how to handle money. And someone stating the fact that a Maserati is not an expensive investment for his dad. I am just saying it is and there is an alarming rate for young guys in the NBA that ends up broke after their playing days.

my apologizes, i overreacted but if you look back at your posts you seem to argue he or his father can't afford a vehicle of such caliber when anyone earning 100k annually can. The maserati's start at 100k btw.

You really think he just dropped $250,000 (it likely wasn't that expensive) in cash/check up front for the car? Of course not...he likely put a down payment, thus he wouldn't be spending NEAR 10 percent of his 1st year salary.
You're also conveniently forgetting that Russell just signed a deal with Nike as well.
Once again, NOT an extremely extravagant nor expensive gift considering the circumstances.

And it's their money, if they want to blow it on dumb shit let them do it.

It really all depends what else he's already spending money on. There's no way to tell by just this purchase if hes being reasonable or retarded, but just going by what the statistics say about NBA players it seems likely this is probably one of many ill-conceived purchases made on a loan before his career has even begun.
I'm sure he's already paying all the insurance on the car for his dad. Interest on the car. Now he's gonna be paying lawyer fees and court costs :facepalm Yall think this is just a drop in the bucket but the point is there are going to be other expenses to pay over the course of that contract, this aint the only one. Lot of other temptations in the next 4 years. Gotta get his own car, his momma a car, his own house, his mama a house, his brother some diamonds, donate to his old school, etc etc all these things players are expected to do. Not to mention invest some, save some for emergency and so forth.
If your dad is THAT guy, probably dont buy him a maserati with your money before youve even started making any :facepalm

I'm a huge DRus fan and defender since he's been drafted by the Lakers but this is pretty dumb by him. I thought he was smarter than this. He should wait to see if he gets that first huge contract before buying Maseratis for his family. What if he gets injured? That rookie salary is gonna have to stretch for the rest of his life. Not smart, but even even less intelligent by his parents for letting him do it. Obviously they see him as an ATM more than a son.

Well if he's 40 and still driving around with that purple drank in his lap, there's a 99.9% probability he's driving a Maserati because:
a)He's rap/hip hop star
b)He won the lottery
c)He was given the car by a rich relative
My guess is C.

You guys comparing Russell buying this car to someone in a typical well paying profession, ie Doctor, are ridiculous. Who is more likely to still be employeed in 20 years? Russell in basketball or a Doctor. Russell has 10-12 years to earn virtually all of the money he will ever make in life. Doing shit like buying your drug addict father a Maserati when you first get in the league is dumb as hell. And if he buying stuff like that for his dad, what do you think he's spending on his mom much less himself. And do you not think his dad will want a new car very few years? These guys dropping 100-300k on cars don't intend on driving the car for the next 15-20 years.

Bingo! Its not just one item, its these kids spending habits that kills them. When they live a certain lavish lifestyle and they have no sustainable income after their NBA career is over, we seen an alarming rate of broke retired or out of the league players. Not saying he doesn't have the right to buy these things but I am merely suggesting that they should value their hard earned money and think long term.
