All those records yet folded like a cheap chair when it mattered most.

What happened in game 7 of the 1969 finals? He said he had an injury early in the game when his team was losing but when his team was up late, he wanted back in but his coach refused to let him in. They lose by 1 point. What is the outcome if he stays in and plays his ass off the entire game? Even in Russell's last year and Wilt with the better team, he still came up short.

The guy was a beta when it mattered. There is such a thing as being clutch, imposing your will on the game when it matters most and taking the game.

There is no doubt he choked and was not a winner - relative to his greatness. No argument at all. However, we cannot take his records (50ppg, 48.5mpg, 100 points in a game, 10ast season, etc) away from him. These are NBA records when it is all said and done.

We can simultaneously appreciate his greatness while also recognizing his shortcomings

A record/s means nothing when the rules and dynamics of the game have changed so much to the point that newer players can't touch said record due to the changes. All you can do is appreciate his greatness relative to that particular time that he played. If the rules today were the same as they were back then, many of not all of those records would have been beaten.

50 ppg in a season and all those scoring outbursts yet is tied with Jordan for career ppg and doesn't even hold most total points. It shows the greatness of Jordan, Malone, and others.

Can you find me the game in which Grant shot better than 18-18 from the field? Or 16-16? Or 15-15? All of which Wilt accomplished, and as far as I know, are still the top-3 "perfect" games from the field in NBA history.
