Kobe looked really smooth this season, but more so in black shoes when he had road unis on. It's probably the smoothest I've ever seen him move, exemplified by this game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AScq6WAXt1Q). This and the 2009 season(white shoes in home unis) would be my pick as his 2 most fluid looking seasons as a pro.

If the 2006 and 2007 versions played on a competitive and formidable team, I shutter to think how his legacy would have panned out.

The absolute peak of his powers and Kobe plays with garbage. SMH. Guess that made up for playing with MDE. :oldlol:

if only kobe colluded and signed 1-2 year deals like lebron

dude would have atleast 2 more titles under his belt cause 2006 and 2007 kobe would bring any above average team to an nba title

Yeah. Kobe played on a team with at least "good" talent from the ages of 18-25. Then from 29-34. That's 14 out of the 17 seasons in which he was healthy. And by "good" talent I mean teams that would be pretty decent even without him. 05-07 were his only down years. Can't feel too bad about that.

He looked crazy smooth and aesthetic in 08 when he first started rocking that sleeve, that reverse dunk and the 360s were crazy, even looked scary when he went for blocks

look at this highlight reel from 08

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnErp0jf0zc

crazy stuff he used to do mane....that behind the back pass to Luke in transition, the #1 play with him spinning through the defense and somehow managing to pass the ball while going around the player in motion

A couple observations:
1) Luke Walton was the third best player on that roster. Think about that for a second.
2) A rookie Jordan Farmar stole Smush Parker's starting job by the time the playoffs rolled around. Everyone knew by mid-season that Smush would be gone for good the following season.
3) Lakers would have been better off tanking and getting a high draft pick (Kevin Durant, anyone?). Too bad Kobe was too competitive to let that happen.

Kobe's historic seasons were essentially wasted on a trash roster.

I think 2007 was probably Kobe's peak offensively. That was IMO his peak in terms of perimeter shooting, excellent efficiency numbers, and he just seemed so smooth and under control. The fact that he anchored a borderline top five offense in the league with that roster is pretty amazing.

He did before the draft.

"If you're not the Lakers, don't draft me cause I won't sign"

wanting the easy way.
