Used Airbnb to get a nice place in central San Diego for the first 2 weeks of November.

Gimme a checklist, brothers. Money is not really an object here. I will be mostly alone and looking to explore.

EDIT: I'm staying just west of Balboa Park, in the middle of the city.

Where in San Diego are you staying?

My best friend lives there and I'm there all the time visiting

Things to do:
-La Jolla Cove/Downtown La Jolla
-Torrey Pines Hiking
-Gaslamp (nightlife)
-Coronado Island and Hotel Del Coronado
-Pacific Beach for the boardwalk/Belmont Park
-Mount Woodson (Poway, CA) and Potato Chip rock hike
-Cowles Mountain Hiking Trail
-Safari Park
-USS Midway
-San Diego Zoo
-Sea World

Pacific Beach is nice.

When I was stationed in SD, we went there almost every weekend.

Except if you enjoy a smoke, you can't there. Or the street running parallel to the beach. Or any street leading to the beach.

You should visit Mexico while you are here...

Nightlife: Tijuana (From strip clubs, bars & nightclubs) CHEAP AS HELL..

If you want to go deeper, Ensenada, 1 hour trip, the highway is right beside the beach, the view is awsome, also you can visit our famous wineyards (Valle de Guadalupe), of course if you are a wine taster, or if you like Lobster, you might wanna visit our world famous "Puerto Nuevo Lobster", its awsome!

Anyways, there is a lot of things to do here in Mexico just right at the border and very very cheap.

Thanks, guys. I'm staying right next to Balboa Park. I'm an avid cyclist. If I rent a bike for the 2 weeks is it feasible to use that instead of renting a car for most transportation? I heard the public transportation is pretty good anyway.

Thanks for the great list wang4three. That looks like most of the things I want to do so far. Any other ideas?

Mex-Laker: I'm not gonna hit Mexico only because my one friend in San Diego doesn't wanna go, and it doesn't make sense to go alone.

Any idea on renting a bike for the 2 weeks?

Seaport Village

Nice I didn't know about this place yet, and it's very close to me. I'll add it to my list.

No doubt, but I need the break from regular life. Plus going somewhere warm will help me avoid a rut over the cold winter. I'm usually not a willing traveler, but I forced myself to do this and now I can't wait.

Renting a bike is not a bad idea. I live in North Park, which is a mile and a half from Balboa Park. You're pretty much close to everything where you'll be staying.

Downtown is better for the night life, during the day its not that exciting. Seaport Village is nice. Also, crossing the Coronado bridge and checking out Coronado and the beaches there is cool too. You won't be able to ride a bike over that bridge though.

Head up the Pacific Highway and go left to check out Point Loma. One of my absolute favorite spots is Sunset Cliffs. Check out the OB Noodlehouse in Ocean Beach for some good eating while in that area, Hodad's is good for a burger. Mission Beach and Mission Bay are nice places to chill and take a walk along the beach. Mission Beach has the boardwalk and Belmont Park, not Pacific Beach. Pacific beach is just a surfer/college kids/military bar hopping area. I don't like it all that much, It's not what it used to be.

For chill bars and really good food, North Park is where it's at. Definitely one of the trendiest areas in all of San Diego, there are a lot of good restaurants and the bars are pretty good too.

Balboa Park is awesome, I love going there. The zoo is great too. Sea World used to be great but after all of the Blackfish BS it's not the same.

If you want to shop, Mission Valley and Fashion Valley are where you'll want to go. There are some restaurants there too.

La Jolla cove is pretty nice. Not much else in La Jolla though...its just a rich area. The same goes for Del Mar, Solana Beach, Torrey Pines, Poway, Carlsbad, Encinitas...they're all really far from you anyway and can't be reached with a bike.

If you want awesome Mexican food, check out Chula Vista.

Can't really think of much else off the top of my head...let me know if you are interested in any places in particular.
