View Full Version : Three stand-alone Batman films planned after highly successful BvS screening

This is GREAT news for Batman v Superman
According to an industry source who will remain anonymous, a cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was screened for the film's crew and Warner bosses within the past 24 hours or so. "It's a near finished cut but not locked," our source tells us.
That screening was, we're told, a glowing success - to the point where Zack Snyder's movie received a "standing ovation".
Warner is said to be so impressed with Affleck's performance as Batman that it's apparently in the process of making an extended, "Golden deal", which could see the actor play the Caped Crusader in a trilogy of stand-alone movies, not the single outing already announced.

Yay more Comic Book films with the exact same characters and scenarios!
This
I will see a Batman movie though. He is just about the only compelling, interesting character out there.
Haven't seen any movie Marvel has put out in the last 2-3 year except GOTG... Or at least, haven't enjoyed any, apart from GOTG. Thought Avengers 1 was an extremely overrated movie.

Batman Begins
Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises
Spiderman-2
Watchmen
DC DOMINATES the GOAT comic book movie list. The only Marvel one isn't even really a Marvel one (Spiderman 2).
Marvel makes volume, DC makes quality.

I'd kinda like to see Affleck get a chance to direct one of them at least. But honestly, I think Affleck as Batman is a good casting. Especially if he doesn't have to do too much Bruce Wayne, playboy type shit because I don't think he could pull that off. It's not like Christian Bale was some epic performance. Get a good director who can tell the stories and 50% of the film will just be some dude in a costume performing choreographed action sequences anyway.

It's already been announced that Affleck will be directing and co-writing the first solo film with Geoff Johns, one of DC's best writers.

Hard to beat DC when they have the Dark Knight.
Not only the best comic book movie but one of the greatest films to ever grace the big screen. Top fifty, easily.

So basically like every other Marvel movie? They try to make all of their heroes funny instead of savage like DC does. But you're probably not funny in real life so you enjoy that ha?
Btw, robert downey jr and his iron movies are the equivalent of johnny depp and his pirates films, a waste of talent for the pursuit of cash. Roberts best film was and still is LESS THAN ZERO. Sad to watch him in iron man trying to pop corny jokes.

No, not like every other Marvel movie...this one is rated-R and that can make all the difference in the world.
Not sure why you are trying to make this into a marvel vs. DC thing...DC has had some great shit. Watchmen (rated-R) is very respectable as is The Dark Knight. Guardians was fantastic and DeadPool will be as well.
You are only doing yourself a disservice by declaring all of Marvel's movie to suck because at that point you have already made up your mind before the movie is even out, you're going to hate all of them no how good or bad they are.

Ummm i get that movies are made for profit, but you're supposed to add watchable content. Latest thor movie was a crapfest. Latest avengers was HORRIBLE. I will be watching deadpool, and i hope it's good but it's difficult to believe that when marvel is behind it.

I like a lot of marvel movies, but this annoys the shit out of me. It feels like every character is identical - the sarcastic and witty hero who wins every single time. None of the characters have their own personalities really, they are all just comedians with super powers. Its like Aaron Sorkin is writing all the dialogue, someone always has to drop some stupid "witty" one-liner every time anything happens, and it gets old.

I think in today's society, anything that is "feel good" has mass appeal. That's what marvel does, feel good movies. Rarely do they portray their characters in a dark moment. Nolan painted batman blacker than black. I'd mu cheaper rather watch a superhero be in a rut and climb themselves out of a hole than a superhero poping jokes. If i want to laugh, I'll watchold dave chappelle episodes, not a superhero film.

I agree with this. Even when it was announced, I felt like Affleck was a compelling choice, even if I wasn't always thrilled with his acting. And I just read an article at lunch where Molly Lambert described him as having a sleazeball charm, which I hadn't really considered, but it's true. And he came up playing sort charming scumbags and bullies. There can be a little of that in a vengeful Batman, or even in certain depictions of Bruce Wayne. Bale's Bruce Wayne was like that, and honestly I feel like Affleck could carry that character more. She mentioned the Dazed and Confused character, and the Mallrats character, and how he was a perfect fit for Nick Dunne in Gone Girl. But I'd add his philandering scummy politician in State of Play, which is a really good, generally forgotten about movie.
And I'm glad this is saying he's got a directing call. Because while he's a good actor, with a particular niche, he's a really top notch director from what we've seen so far.
That said I'm still a little surprised they'd go this far right at this moment. The movie hasn't been released. Who knows how it will be received. I've got some doubts personally. And in addition, he's in the middle of this personal thing with the split from his wife, and who knows how that affects the his sellability moving forward.

Both as a director and actor.
The Town, Gone Girl are two of the better films I've seen in the last 5 years; he did good in both, as a director and an actor.

And it would still be a better trilogy than avengers or ironman. Where are the villains in marvel? They're never really a threat to the characters. Whereareas batman had his back broken and displayed his vulnerability, marvel could never do that to their characters lol.
That daredevil show on netflix was tight tho. Because they didn't pop jokes 24/7 and ACTUALLY DID SUPERHERO SH1T LIKE FIGHT BAD DUDES.

Nolan's Batman was supposed to be a standalone trilogy which is why they are rebooting but I dont think they arw going the way of Spiderman 2 because they are showing in BvS an older Batman (Jason Todd is already dead for example) and 2nd Robin died when Batman was in his thirties or older.

I don't know how you can rip on Affleck as Bruce Wayne without watching DoJ. How many people bashed on Ledger as Joker before TDK's release?
Anyway, I was happy with one film but a trilogy? I'm cautiously optimistic but it might be overkill. If there's no origin story, then I'm even more optimistic. I just hope there's not a whole movie dedicated to Leto's Joker. I'd rather have an Arkham video game series type relationship between Batman and Joker throughout the trilogy but without so much focus on the Joker.

Still heck of a lot more interesting than Superman. Villains tend to be more interesting for most heroes to me though. Venom (villain/anti-hero) and Carnage are more interesting than Spider-man. Every villain is more interesting than Superman. Magneto is more interesting than a majority of X-men. Loki > Thor. Iron Man may be more interesting than his villains, but that is also because his villains suck.
