Your choices (all in their primes):

Kobe
Lebron
Wade

Who do you trust more to stop the Beard?

Lebron.. Wade too short, Kobe too weak.

They're all good enough to stop him or make him take a really tough contested shot.

James Harden, Houston Rockets: 15-of-33 (45.5 percent), 32-of-44 FTs, 5-of-11 3FG

One of the most polarizing figures in basketball this season has also been one of the best clutch scorers. On a Houston Rockets team that doesn't really have another shot creator on the roster outside of Jason Terry, James Harden has consistently been asked to close out games for them and he's consistently delivered. It's a big part of the reason he's been an MVP candidate in his best season as a pro; he's one of the best closers in basketball.

As most people will assume, Harden leads the NBA in clutch free throw attempts. He's drawn 28 fouls in the clutch, just ahead of Monta Ellis' 25. Some of that is him getting fouled at the end of games as opponents try to extend the game and a lot of that is his uncanny ability to trick defenders into swiping for the ball. Detractors will yell that he's flopping on a lot of these calls, but a flop and a fabricated call aren't always the same thing. Most of the time, he's just selling contact.

His free throw shooting at the end of games has been oddly subpar, as he knocks down just 72.7 percent of his clutch freebies (86.6 percent on the season). But he's able to score everywhere else quite effectively and can hurt you with deep 3-pointers, runners in the lane, or getting to the hoop and finishing.

In comparing him to Stephen Curry as we debate the minutiae of the MVP debate, Harden is a much more needed clutch scorer and therefore has better clutch numbers. Curry hits 42.9 percent of his clutch shots (surprisingly just 1-of-7 from 3) and 92.0 percent of his free throws. But he's played half the clutch minutes as Harden because the Warriors just destroy everybody.

Try Again.

Wade

Best quickness and timing. Plus he is stronger than Harden too.

Ranking:

Wade
Kobe

Probably Wade. Even if Wade fouls Harden and goes to the line, Wade will ensure he hits him hard enough so he misses the FT...

Whoever the best off-ball defender is(genuinely don't know), because Harden isn't driving or anything, he's taking a step back. Whether it's a 2 or 3 doesn't matter. I wouldn't want him to get that shot off at all.

Purely from a match up perspective, I say Prime Kobe. Elite foot speed / quickness with plenty of length to cover Harden whilst being tenacious and hungry.

trying to expose yourself for being a basketball fan since the summer of 2010 :confusedshrug: :confusedshrug:

Kobe was the best perimeter defender of the early 2000's, and is known as one of the best one possession defenders in history.. when locked in he could absolutly shut down the opposing players offense, hell he was still doing this in 2010 against a younger Westbrook

Speaking as someone who has liked the NBA for a long time but only became more than a casual fan in 2011/2012, show me some video and statistical evidence that Kobe is the goat one on one defender.

Best one on one defense I ever saw was rookie Iman Shumpert on Derrick Rose.

no problem, if you ever get the chance to watch them then enjoy..

there's a reason he has so many all defensive selections, and no "popularity contest" excuse doesn't work or Lebron would have made the all defensive team more times than just from five times by now..

if it was a popularity contest as Kobe haters claim then Lebron (aka the most hyped player his generation) would have collected more than one undeserved all defensive selection :confusedshrug: :confusedshrug:

if popularity really was the key, lebron would have begun to rack up all defensive team honors in 06, and would have been on the team last year too.. i'm just not buying the popularity contest excuse when the medias most loved player just got left off the all defensive team..

Wade was almost as good if you're gonna make it for one possession. But Wade would get lost and uninterested far more often than Kobe. Plus Kobe was much smarter especially about passing lanes. But Wade was better at staying in front of his man.

I don't think I've ever seen Wade give someone problems defensively 1on1.. I'm talking about elite perimeter players here.

Someone show me an example outside of a few recovery blocks against Kobe.. (which again is great help defense.. hes a goat shotblocker at his size)

No doubt the goat shotblocker for a guard his size.

I think he has a legit shot to pass MJ for most playoff shots blocked by a guard, all-time.
