can someone pls explain the salary raise of Green's contract?

as far as i know, he's current salary is $2,640,743, but next contract is gonna be $82,000,000 over 5 years.

i thought there's only certain % raise based on his previous contract, like 8%, 10%, 20% etc.
but this new contract of his is like 40times more than his current salary?

how does this work?

When your rookie scale contract expires, you can negotiate anywhere within the salary cap and maximum salary. He had a cheap contract. That's expiring. His agent negotiated him a really good new one.

The yearly raise part only pertains to new contracts. So... your contract expires and you sign a new 4 year deal, you can get the % per year raises each year for those 4 years.
