Was coppin some groceries at Sprouts today and was at one of their larger flagship stores bc I happened to be in the area, and I noticed they had some of the less typically consumed varieties of meat, and decided to get some and give it a try. I'd already started mixing bison into my home cooking and alternating it with beef, and thought it would be nice to give some other things a try as well.

Obviously kangaroo and elk are far from "exotic" but theyre clearly not your everyday sort of ground meats. Nor is wild boar, but I assume it'll taste pretty similar to regular pork.

Anyone who's had any of these care to share some thoughts on what to expect out of them, cooking and taste-wise?

Had elk and kangaroo. Didn't like elk much, was really gamey and had a strong scent. Kangaroo was like really lean beef, was not bad actually, had it while visiting down under.

Yes, it's alpha to go into some upscale supermarket and buy elk meat and have mommy cook it.

Kangaroo stinks when you're cooking it. Tastes good to me though.

Nice and cheap here in Australia. Same price as beef and all the other meats.

Elk is good, but you have to know how to cook it. It's a little gamey and tough.

Any tips? I'm completely kitchen illiterate

Excited to try it out tho
