He's going to be 39 by the time he steps into the octagon. I think the moment that this would have been exciting news passed some years ago.

This. Although the best HWs were in Pride back then. If he had come around the time he signed with Strikeforce it would've been awesome.

Out of money already? So sad. Fedor should have ditched that management group years ago.

Hopefully they give him some warm-up fights, or he may get wrecked. Last time I saw Fedor he was getting dominated by Bigfoot Silva. :facepalm

Fedor beats Werdum 8/10; the man didn't even want to stand up with Fedor.
Fedor fought sloppy against Big Foot, Werdum and Hendo. He should have never lost to Hendo or Werdum; he did because he got overly aggressive.

Werdum is a total bitch who literally was sucking Fedor off after the fight because he couldn't believe he got so lucky. Fedor was just dumb that fight and got overly aggressive against a ***** who literally layed on his back the entire fight waiting for Fedor to come to him.

That was a disgrace.

Werdum is a beast now. all he had back then was ground and everyone knew it, even fedor, and he still lost.

Werdum is 10x's better now. that standup display he put on last fight was sick. with such a dominating ground game, the fact that he's improved his standup that much makes him the top MMA HW easily, and vastly improved than the one who already beat fedor when fedor was probablyl much better than he is now.

fedor is going to get his ass kicked coming back once he gets past the bums, and it'll be another smear on his legacy. i'm sure Pride fans will keep makinig excuses and sukking his dikk tho, nothing will stop that from happening.

You moron; Werdum was chin checked in 10 seconds. He got dropped on his back like a bitch and Fedor got overly aggressive against a submission specialist. He got lucky as ****.

I ****ing hate morons like you who talk out of their ass; go re-watch that fight again. A prayer was answered for Wedrum that evening. He was getting rocked by Fedor and was dropped immediately. Good for him, he capitalized on Fedor's mistake with the triangle.

The man was undefeated for 10 years, won 28 straight fights; little bitches like you probably don't remember all that though.

I hope Fedor comes back and dismantles the UFC division; the man is the greatest MMA fighter ever. Even when he fought Hendo (a legend), he had him rocked bad and (again) got overly aggressive and got caught.

At 39, it will be hard for me to imagine Fedor ever becoming the UFC champ; he's about 7-8 years too late.

But he'll always be the greatest heavy-weight MMA fighter in my book.

The only bitch in that fight was the bitch who tapped out.

Werdum's game plan the whole time was to lull Fedor in to a false sense of security and trick him in to going in aggressively and stupidly vs a submission master.

Fedor fell for the mind games pre-fight and he got destroyed during the actual fight within 1 minute and 19 seconds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFnFY0R-euA

Also, stop lying. Fedor was not undefeated before getting owned by a Werdum armbar. He previously lost to Tsuyoshi Kohsaka.

:oldlol: Werdum gets knocked down in like 10 seconds, gets lucky with the triangle.

It was so stupid because Fedor got out of the first triangle; and still proceeded to try and ground and pound Werdum. It was just a bad strategy and I think Fedor overlooked Werdum.

He even said after the fight that he fight far better caliber fighters and that the loss was a real disappointment. Werdum "greatest night of my life, I still can't believe I defeated Fedor."

Lucky? You dumb f*ck, do you know how ju jitsu works? You don't lock in a triangle and then an armbar within 1 minute vs a trained MMA heavyweight with "luck"

Werdum went down easy on purpose because he knew he had a huge ju jitsu advantage vs Fedor. He talked like a ***** before the fight to try to trick Fedor in to thinking it would be an easy match. Then when the actual fight came he destroyed Fedor on the ground and made him look like a scrub.

Werdum is a humble guy. A loss is a loss is a loss. Stop making 10,000 excuses for Fedor tapping out in 1 minute and 9 seconds. Nothing you can say will change reality. Fedor tapped out in 1 minute and 9 seconds to Werdum.

Fedor only lost 3 fights in his career and they were all back to back to back to Werdum, Big Foot and Henderson. He then won 3 straight fights and retired.

He has 1 no contest early in his career due to a sever cut.

http://cdn2.sbnation.com/imported_assets/770213/5_medium.gif

Hendo definitely rocked him in the fight, however, take a closer look at the shots thrown by Hendo AFTER his initial uppercut.

Clear illegal shots to the back of the head (I counted at least two); Fedor still rolled over. I thought it was a good stoppage because Fedor seemed out of it for a second but after I watched the replay, I noticed illegal shots to the back of the head.

Werdum is right. He killed Fedor in 1 minute and 9 seconds. Why would Fedor simply be able to walk in to a title shot? That's like giving Beth Correia another title shot vs Rousey

Once Pride was done, Fedor was already considering retirement but his mgmt group and he himself decided to keep fighting so he could help create his M1 brand. The idea was that eventually he would stop fighting and just manage that brand.

Fedor was a much smarter fighter in his prime. I think by the time that Tim Sylvia fight happened he just stopped giving a ***. He had no more motivation to put himself through a grueling training camp just to show up for a 30 second fight. Side note - Anderson Silva also ran into this mental block.

In the Arlovski fight, this was obvious. Fedor didn't look sharp. He could've very well lost that fight. He won that fight out of sheer talent and luck, not any strategy or grueling preparation.

Brett Rogers: A bum. There's nothing to take from that fight.

Werdum: Another example of Fedor just looking to finish rather than win. Doesn't even seem disappointed with the loss.

He became reckless.
Even against Hendo, he just stood up with him instead of using his strength (judo) and ground and pound. He actually hurt Hendo on multiple occasions and at one point I thought Hendo was getting KO'ed.

He fought the same way against Arlovski, Sylvia, Werdum, Big Foot etc.
Go watch him fight guys like Coleman and Mirko in his prime; the man was an animal. It's hard to digest or understand how this chubby guy can be so good. His strength, endurance, judo, submission game, striking was just top notch; his quickness for a heavy weight was out of this world.

The man was unbeaten in 28 straight fights for a reason. He's a legend.
Nothing would make me happier than to see the man retire as a UFC champ.
He's a Royce Gracie, Anderson Silva and Randy Couture to the sport of martial arts.

Top 3 P4P fighter of all-time, alongside The Spider.
I'm not sure who I'd give that 3rd spot; Jon Jones was on his way to greatness until he became a cocky idiot. Other guys to consider would be Jose Aldo, Royce Gracie, GSP, Randy etc.

I'd go with GSP because unlike Anderson and Fedor, the guy wasn't reckless or dancing and would win at any cost. Even if it meant he had to sit on his opponent for 5 rounds. He also dominated in a stacked division.

GSP was methodical and because of that he had the least stimulating championship fights. After Serra he just became overly cautious and would rather jab and control for five rounds rather than go for the finish. At best it shouldn't detract from his legacy don't know why you are giving him props for not even trying to finish fights though. Dude had Kos blinded for 4 rounds and got the decision
