View Full Version : Riddle me this, Kobe fans/LeBron haters

If Kobe was really 1a/1b with Shaq, then how come...

In 2004 Shaq's Lakers won 56 games, nabbed the #2 seed, and made it to the Finals before Kobe shot them out of the Finals.

Kobe took his chances at being the #1 guy during that playoff run, and well, we saw how it ended.

Kobe took 20.9 FGA to Shaq's 14.0 FGA
Kobe scored 24.5 PPG to Shaq's 21.5 PPG
Kobe's FG% was 41% to Shaq's 59%

Hey wait a minute...Wasn't LeBron criticized for only shooting 40% during a series? Kobe shot 41% the whole playoffs! And wait a minute, LeBron averaged 36 ppg, Kobe averaged 25 ppg.

And don't forget that Kobe shot 41% while having the luxury of Shaq as a #2 option and Karl Malone as a #3 option.

LeBron also averaged more minutes per game than Kobe. Kobe averaged 44 mpg, to LeBron's 46 mpg (which is part of the reason why he was exhausted in game 4).

Sorry Kobe fans, it doesn't get any better...So we saw what happened when Kobe became the #1 option, so then Shaq leaves.

2004 w/ Shaq 56 wins #2 seed
2005 Kobe led Lakers w/o Shaq 34 wins #12 seed

Hmm, okay. Let's continue then.

2006 Kobe led lakers w/o Shaq 45 wins #7 seed
Okay, Kobe misses the playoffs without Shaq and then nabs a 7 seed, what does he do with it?

First. Round. Exit.

In fact, we can all reminisce about Kobe's choke job. He was up 3-1 in the series and when it was a decisive game 5 to close out what happened? Kobe choked. He lost by 17. His Lakers then lose game 6, but there is still hope. Game 7. Series tied. And what does Kobe do?

Chokes. He loses by 31!

Kobe even had a great second option in Lamar Odom, who put up 19/11/5 on 50%.

So then we go to 2007
42 wins and another 7 seed

And you guessed it. Another First Round Exit.

Don't throw rocks if you live in a glass house.

This thread should be bumped whenever someone mentions Kobe was 1a/1b (lol)

This thread should be bumped whenever someone says Kobe is clutch

This thread should be bumped whenever a Kobestan says LeBron choked

Kobe couldn't win without Shaq, it's evident. As soon as he left, Lakers fell apart. Hell, even when Shaq was there Kobe still couldn't get it done as the #1 guy. He had to wait for both Odom and Gasol to pitch in.

We see when Shaq left Kobe missed the playoffs and then had back-to-back 1st round exits.

We see that Kobe choked away a 3-1 series lead, and lost a game 7 by 31 points!

Kobe was a beast in 04 wtf are you on? Dude was flying in from the Colorado case in to playoff games dropping 40+ on the Spurs and then hopping back on to a plane back to the courthouse.

Comedians like Dave Chappelle were even joking about how he was playing for his life.

Honestly without the rape case and Vanessa drama I think they win it all that year...also shaq's overweight ass didn't help with how big ben was pushing his shit in on the boards. But ofcourse you only look at FG you didnt watch bball back then.

when kobe shoots 40%. hes taking mostly long jumpers

and 40% on long jumpers is actually good

when lebron shoots 40%. hes taking mostly shots inside. while his jumpers are 25% .. which is actually horrendous

if you're using FGA to determine who the number one guy is then I guess Kobe was the number one guy for the 01 & 02 titles

way to ether yourself :oldlol: :oldlol:

and very convienent to just stop the time line when Kobe makes the finals without another all star, then proceeds to make the next finals and win the next 2 FMVP

fuccing moron

and here you are criticizing Kobe for shooting 41% and 51% TS through the playoffs when a prime lebron just shot 41% through the playoffs and 48% TS :lol :lol

Don't be hurt, the truth is out there. I posted facts.

I was showing you what happens when Kobe tried to lead the Lakers in 04 (fail)

I was showing you what happens when Shaq leaves
05: Miss playoffs
06: 7th seed 1st round exit
07: 7th seed 1st round exit

And finally, after acquiring Gasol & Odom (already a legit 19/11/5 on 50% player) and after losing a series when up 3-1 and losing the decisive game 7 by 31. Just facts man. So again, next time you want to prop Kobe up and beat LeBron down for his faults, don't forget this thread.

In his early Cavs days, LeBron never got to play with a 19/11/5 on 50% player in his entire playoff career. Those are legit #2 option numbers. Imagine what LBJ could've done with someone like that. Hell, trade Big Z and Lamar Odom. Kobe can have Big Z, would he even make the playoffs? Would he win 1 game in a playoff series? Now give Odom to LBJ's Cavs. I can see them doing some damage. Far more than Kobe ever did w/ Odom (sans Gasol).

you whole argument that Kobe was leading the lakers is by using FGA per game, by that logic Kobe was leading the Lakers in 01 & 02.. you can't come back from this..

you lose..

Don't be a fool, Kobe shot the ball 7 more times in 04' playoff run. Cleary he was trying to establish himself as the man. We saw what happened. How big of a difference were the FGA between Kobe & Shaq in 01 and 02?

2001
Shaq: 21.5 FGA (30.4 ppg)
Kobe: 22.4 FGA (29.4 ppg)

Got it, so you proved my point? Shaq took 1 less shot per game and still scored more...lol Fail. (This wasn't a 7-shot difference per game, either. This is 1)

2002
Shaq: 20.2 FGA (28.5 ppg)
Kobe: 22.7 FGA (26.6 ppg)

Got it, so you proved my point? Shaq took 2.5 less shots per game and still scored more...lol Fail. (This wasn't a 7-shot difference per game, either. This is 2.5)

Anything else? :lol

God no. The Pistons completely and thoroughly dismantled the Lakers and Bean couldn't do a f*cking thing to that defense. It was so bad, Mark Cuban lobbied the NBA to abolish hand-checking afterwards, which they did... Only for it to come back and bite Cuban in the ass in '06 via D-Whistle. :lol

Only way they could've possibly won was by going back to the 3-peat formula of playing through Shaq, who shot 63% that series, instead of a 38% shot jacking Bean.

you are shook as fucc :oldlol:

YOU decided that the leading FGA taker was the the guy leading the team.. that is the entire premise of YOUR thread

by that logic Kobe led the lakers in 01 & 02 and again in 04.. so he led them to 3 finals, won 2..

you can't change the criteria now, Kobe took 24 FGA per game in the year you claim he led the Lakers and took 22 & 21 FGA per game (led the team) in the years you claim he didn't.. I guess those extra 2 FGA determined everything for you

Do you really not see how taking more shots but scoring less is not a good thing?

I know you're delusional, but that is pretty common knowledge.

Player A takes less shots than player B and scores more. Player A also gets a vast majority of attention/focus from defense.

It is pretty well established that Kobe was trying to become the #1 guy in LA in 2004, that is why he took 7 more FGA per game. And, we saw what happened when Shaq took a backseat. We saw what happened when Shaq left.

Ungrateful Laker fans like you make no sense to me. Kobe wouldn't have had those 3 sidekick rings and he wouldn't have made the Finals in 04 without Shaq. Shaq brings you 3 ships, an insanely dominant run, and you shit on him and prop up Kobe for what? Pathetic. Some "fan" you are...
