each year we get guys like harden or curry that make the proverbial jump from borderline top 10-15 to top 5. Who do you feel is the next player?

Well, what's are top-5 now?

LeBron
Curry
Harden
Durant
AD?

you have guys like CP3, westbrook, Griffin, Wall, and Cousins lurking in the bottom half of the top-10. I don't think any of those guys have a huge jump left in them. I think the guy most likely to make the leap is Wiggins or Towns.

is AD considered top 5 yet? If not, him.

I think Kyrie has it in him to take that next step. Part of that is circumstantial. He's gonna get a huge boost from playing deep in the playoffs on a good team. All it takes is one memorable series. Pierce was being talked about as an all timer after his FMVP.

Cousins is only 24. He has a chance. Especially with all these injuries and Lebron slowing down. I think some spots will open up.

Cousins will belong specially if they make the playoffs next year since portland will drop .

Kwahi comes to mind mostly as a shift in responsibilities on that team to go along with his development.

Gianis I think can do it, but I also think he's still a little bit further away from it.

Cousins is really close. Close enough it probably has as much to do with recognition as it does improvement. An injury free year where he has minimal outbursts, and the team makes a playoff run, and he may get the attention as it is. He could also get it with an injury free year where he becomes a real trade target.

And I say this not really meaning top 5, so much as just jumping into that top two tier or so.

AD made that jump too, btw.. I also feel like Kawhi is a top 5 player.

My tip is on Cousins, Blake was a top 5 player in 2014.

Westbrook, Gasol, Kawhi are better players than Wall, bro (and I think the first two are overrated).

And I'd put Kyrie over him too, but they're close.

Ugh, you put Harden in the top 5 and then ask us if Davis is???
Davis is a top 3 player; Harden is far more questionable, IMO.

LeBron, Durant, Davis, Curry and Westbrook.

Harden, Curry and Westbrook are interchangeable I guess (I can't pick); I'd rather have Curry & Westbrook to start a team though.

To answer the question; I think either Cousins or Kyrie Irving have the best shot. Leonard is another option; perhaps Paul George if he gets back to his old self.

James
Durant
Harden
Westbrook
CP3

Those 5 are secured for the next two years, at minimum. Nobody's jumping into that list next year.

I'll go with Wiggins strictly based on his athleticism and defensive skills. He will undoubtedly get better even if you only factor in the star calls a non-rookie will get and the fact that his point guard will no longer be Zach Levine.

Well, first you'd need to establish what the current top 5 are

LeBron
Durant
Davis
CP3/Westbrook/Harden/Curry/Kyrie (So basically, one of these guys, whichever one you dont' think is part of the top 5 lol)

I don't underrate him at all. I based my rankings on last seasons play. At the moment, Kawhi is a better impact player than Melo. Defense is half of the game. :confusedshrug:

Really it's a top 3 with LeBron, Durant, & AD. After that it is a crap shoot.

A guy with a sub-14 PER who can barely create his own shot ending up a solid top 5 player within the next two years? Doubt it...
