Sounds great but I was hoping Scorsese would do that Irishman project with De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci

Honestly though.
I can't recall any mediocre films he's been in. (Doesn't mean they don't exist)
And all his upcoming films look good

This is based on one of my favorite books, Devil In The White City. I bought the book on a whim, on my way to Chicago, in an airport bookstore. It was one of those books I always saw in the grocery store and was interested in, but I just never bought a book from the grocery store. So I'm waiting on a flight, and grab it. I honestly didn't know it had anything to do with Chicago, and only knew a bit about Holmes in general, even though I'm a bit of a true crime buff.
I started reading and ripped through half the book on the relatively short flight, and as I'm circling Chicago, the whole book is laid out on the ground.
The book actually follows two stories. Holmes obviously. But every other chapter follows a famous architect, Daniel Burnham. This guy basically built the modern Chicago in preparation for the late 1800s World's Fair. Chicago had outbid NY in a bitter bidding war. And Paris had done the previous one and unveiled the Eifel Tower. Burnham was assigned to live up to all that. By all accounts he did, although in retrospect, his big unveil of The Ferris Wheel doesn't seem Eifel Tower-ish enough, but I guess at the time it was the bees knees. Holmes builds a hotel death trap to lure some of the huge influx of tourists coming to the city, and really the two stories never meet, they just sort of run parallel to each other. And as fascinating as the Holmes story was, the Burnham half was actually more interesting to me, in part because I knew less about it. IIRC, he was so wealthy that when prohibition hit, he bought a cruise ship to load his booze on and they'd smuggle it into him when he wanted it. My buddy in Chicago is a member of a club that has a room in one of his buildings, and it has a secret room behind a bookcase that was built for prohibition hiding, and they use as a pool room.
Anyway, Leo and Marty are a great pairing for this. But I do wonder if they'll keep the Burnham half of this story, or of they'll just turn this into a straight Holmes biopic, which would be fine.
I thought Fincher and Jude Law were attached to this, but I may be confusing that with The Cleveland Torso Murders case, which would also make for a good flick.
