I put hot sauce on everything. My favorite by far is Marie Sharp's Habanero hot sauce

http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/hotsauceworld_2253_93458694

But if I don't feel like paying $12 a bottle then Castillo's Habanero is pretty damn fantastic for less than $2 a bottle. I don't even touch Tabasco or Tapatio any more.

I frequent this little taqueria hole in the wall next to my job that all they do is make tacos and quesadillas.

I bought this sauce instead...

How much different is that from Frank's Red Hot? I think I remember them being about the same.

This is going to be little you-should-check-out-this-indie-band-I-just-heard-of, but this stuff Smoking Habs (http://www.tcsauce.com/tc_cart/index.html) from a small producer in NY state is amazing. It's chipotle, haberno and mole flavored. It's really good.

http://www.tcsauce.com/tc_cart/files/pl_0002_detail_1.png

But if you are really in hot sauce or know a hot sauce head, try this one.

Lol, I just bought that one a week ago and while it has a nice taste, spicy it is not. I could drink it staight from the bottle and feel nothing.

When I want to go spicy, I just get my sister in law to hook me up with some chile del arbol sauce, she makes a mean salsa, and it's not for the weak of heart. There's a saying in Mexico, this salsa te duele entrando y tambien saliendo, which means it hurts going in and later coming out :oldlol:

Frank's is about the same. I can handle sweet Chipotle. Usually the darker the sauce, the worse it is.

I came in here to post Louisiana and looks like you made a thread about it. Yes, is the best.

Next would have to be Tapatio.

A mexican place near me has hot sauce that looks just like this and it's my absolute fav all time.

For wing sauce, I get mine from this wing place around there. I just keep a bottle in the fridge and use it pretty often. Even use it for burgers sometimes .

Hot sauce was actually invented for softcore spicy enthusiasts who couldn't handle the real stuff.

I know this because I myself am a spicy food eater... Try an all natural blend of Tabasco and Rocoto infused with some sour cream. That's real hot sauce. Not the pretender bullshit from your local 7-11, made in a factory.

For those with a little more tolerance for spicy condiments, try salsa macha, shit is the bomb.

Different sauces work well for different things.

The smoked version of the second Tabasco bottle is SOOO good. The first one with Jalepenos is delicious.

I personally like Sriarcha but it's often a little too spicy for me.

Its a matter of not overdoing it and knowing what you're adding it to.

I add a few dashes of tabasco to Portuguese dishes I make, shrimp Mozambique or chourico & peppers, for instance. A tiny bit of tabasco adds a nice spicy, fruity bite on the back end without overtaking everything else in there. Of course, as you say, if you use too much your end up blowing away the dish itself and screwing things up.

I use Double Bastard and Cholula in sauces and dips, where the ingredients tend to not be terribly spicy on their own. A few shakes of the Double Bastard habanero sauce added to plain hummus has become one of my favorite snacks; the right balance of heat, beer and fruity pepper taste just elevates the f*ck out of it.

When I need to eat to make gains but don't feel like eating i just down a bunch of habanero sauce/szechuan peppers and I'll just forcibly down a bunch of plain yogurt or milk that I otherwise would not have the appetite to consume.

Favorite Hot Hot Sauce: Blair's Golden Death

Favorite Casual: Tapatio

People who think sriracha is good on everything are crazy I mostly just put it in what it's made for: beef noodle soup. However if there was version that was considerably less sweet and maybe 2.5x hotter I'd be all over it.

I have to be objective here, and I hate to say it.

But Tapatio is the best one based on it's 'all around' usage.

You can throw that shit on almost anything and it'll taste good. So good that Lays started making Tapatio flavored chips. So good that Cup O Noodles made special versions of that their noodles.

It aint my favorite (I actually rarely eat it), but it's the most universal I suppose.

Someone mentioned Cholula. I love the garlic Cholula but my gf hates it, says it has a chemical taste. Marie Sharps was also mentioned. It's only $5 where I'm at, that's super good too. But the best is just putting some oil, touch of vinegar, a garlic clove, some dried chile de arbol(or chiletepin or whatever you have on hand), and salt in a blender and making your own. Takes like 5 minutes.

Idk. My gf makes it to be perfectly honest. :lol

Looks like regular corn oil and white vinegar. I'll ask her when I see her next. She whips it up super quick.

I know she like to use chile de arbol or Japanese red peppers if she can't find it. Once in a while she'll use chiletepin but its super hot, hard to find and expensive so we mainly use that crushed with menudo or pasole.

I like Cholula, but I didn't care for the garlic flavor either as a hot/taco sauce to put on food. I thought the garlic was just too overpowering and I love garlic. This was 5 years ago or something so it's hard for me to pin point what I didn't like about it. I ended up just using it while cooking.

I like the regular red one the best. It has the best flavor. I don't really care for the really hot sauces in general. (though I wouldn't say the super hot is even that hot) It's not that I can't handle it so much as it just overpowers the flavor of the food. I prefer hot sauces that add more flavor and some spice.

Great bump.

I’ll contribute again to say that my wife and I visited Belize in July last year. Every place you go in the county has Marie Sharp’s Habanero sauce on the table because they make it there. I came home with several bottles, it’s that good.
