My first was nba courtside with yong kobe on the cover for the 64.... i played that game for countless hours... I would go through all the rosters and look at the players all the time... i got a ton of bball knowledge from that game lol
then when i grabbed my ps2 in December of 2002 I played live all the time... i still remember renting live 2003 with j kidd on the cover... nothing was touching that game, i mean it is still real fun to this day
also the NBA street series was played by me all the time, the 1st and 2nd one
nba street vol 2 might be the best game of all time lol
then i stuck with live until 2k9 with garnett on the cover came out, i was starting to become disappointed with live and 2k took over from there... i noticed a lot of people made the switch when that game came out
I dont play video games much anymore but if I do it is always 2k, I tried the Live demo and it was fun but it just seemed like a 2nd tier nba game

I think the last game I played countless hours was 2k2 or 2k3 on Dreamcast, I don't remember which one. It was so easy to do a crossover on there, basically even big men could throw the ball behind their back and blow by the defender :lol

early super nintendo games was nba jam.
then for ps1, the nba shootout series in the late 90's was always a blast. instead of MJ on the bulls, they had M.Player who dominated
the cross freethrow system when you were shooting as shaq.... :lol
progressed to live's after that, then fell in love with 2k's. think it was the iverson cover year?

Courtside was my first as well. Then I moved on to the obvious Live, then 2k.
Also used to play a lot of NBA Inside Drive, had VC on the cover I think. And those NBA Street Vol. 1 & 2's used to kill it.

NBA Inside Drive 2002 on Xbox. Played it so much. I either used the Raptors cause of Vince Carter or Lakers cause of Shaq. If my teammate was either one of those teams, I used to chose the Knicks and try to go off with Spreewell.
Briefly played NBA Live 07 with a friend online at his house one evening. Switching off games. NBA Live back in the day on xbox live was so fun.
I bought NBA 2k11 the summer before college. I was doing a few internships and was busy most of the week: ~30-40 hours a week but got bored often on weekends when I had time to myself. I was getting sick of Black Ops (played this game SO much as a senior in high school) and decided to buy 2k11. Played it A LOT my winter break my freshman year. Really hasn't been touched that much since. A lot of my college friends had 2k12 and 2k13 so we often played that while hanging out.
There was some 90s NBA game I played on N64. Forgot what it was called. I just remember using the Bulls or Jazz all the time because those were like the only two I knew would be good on each game back in the late 90s ahah.

You were thinking of Magic Johnson's Fast Break, the first basketball video game I ever owned. It was two-on-two full-court basketball, red vs. blue, sponsored by Pepsi. There was no dunking and after good plays Magic would give you words of encouragement.

I remember NBA Hangtime and NBA Jam 2000 on N64. But back in the day Mario Kart, Super Smash, and Wave Race (or Waverunner, what it was called) were our favorite games so we often just played those. Golden eye was awesome on N64:banana:. Perfect Dark was surprisingly ahead of its' time as a first person shooter. But Golden eye was better for its' multiplayer option.

The first NBA game was NBA Jam in the arcades.
The first home console game I played religiously was Tecmo Super NBA Basketball. That summer I played an entire season against a friend every day - he was the Seattle SuperSonics with the unstoppable Michael Cage highlight dunk, and I played the Houston Rockets. :oldlol:

http://www.amazon.com/Tecmo-Super-NBA-Basketball-Nintendo/dp/B00002SW3MI had the NES version of Tecmo NBA Basketball. That was my first officially licensed NBA game. I, too, played an entire season, reaching the NBA Finals with the Kings, at which point my brother dared me to simulate a game. It simulated the entire series instead and I lost, then I subsequently cried.

The first game that I played was Lakers vs. Celtics for the Sega Geneis. I loved this game to death. The theme song is so badass. I would keep my own stats by hand.

Antoine Walker on the cover? He averaged like 19/8 and went 19-31 in 1998... that merits being on the cover? Lol :biggums:

Remember that the game came out in October 1998, so they were influenced by Walker averaging 22 Points and 10 Rebounds in 82 games the season before...
Still an unusual cover choice as the other years had players like Shaq, Ritchmond and Hardaway on the cover...

I wasn't that into basketball video games when I was a kid... Thought the graphics were completely off but from the looks of it I missed out on a ton back then lol.
My first NBA game was live 07 when I got it from a friend for 5 bucks. Absolutely LOVED the Tmac and Yao rockets on that game.
I would spend the next year pretty much at my friends house playing 2k8 until I grabbed a PS3 and 2k9 with the Garnett cover when it first came out. Stuck with 2K ever since.

I bought Live 98' retrospectively and I was stunned about the lack of game quality in comparison to 99'...
Though it was funny you could brutally shove players around without fouling like 3:28 min. in the video above :lol :lol :lol Poor Stockton

I played HOURS of NBA Street Vol 2.
I loved how they had all the legends in that game and some of them had a signature dunk. If you had Wilt on your team you couldn't lose a game, he blocked every shot and I liked how they had 3 different versions of Jordan.
