"7th grade Girl with sick crossover shatters 8th grade boys ankle" "5-10 kid has BOUNCE! head at rim dunk!", "7 foot 4 high schooler crosses entire team over nails a step back 3", this is like the shit on vine and reddit that goes viral. Theatrically disrespectful plays, insanely huge young prospect big men who can "do everything" IE play small, or little hyper athletes that can dunk over a school bus.

Is this basketball today? I feel like the basketball community on social media is just soooo different than actually stepping in a gym and playing a reffed game none of the things that entertain "basketball fans" today are actually practical basketball things in basketball :lol

Don't you remember when the And1 Mixtapes were out there? Ugh. Everyone at the park thought they were Skip/Professor/etc. Made pickup ball unbearable.

People watch sports to be entertained(theatrically) first and foremost. This is why the most popular sports in the world are supported financially by casual fans.
