Not fit to be a police officer
If the fear of "media backlash" stops you from doing your job you need to find a new job. This criminal just got the ball rolling on a career change for homie!

Sucks for the cop but had the cop shot the dude, a witch hunt (whether warranted or not) by the media would ensue, prompting the zealots at #BLM into furious activity.
Another thing, when confronting a suspect, does it have to be lethal force right away? No stun gun, tazer, pepper spray, billy club???

Theres something terribly wrong with this country. We just wont listen to each other.
The black.community isn't advocating a cop allowing someone to beat them. Were saying use lethal force ONLY when necessary. Why is this concept so hard to grasp?

I'm with you man, I don't trust cops but the BLM crowd have gone to the fringe, making fun of a cop that showed restraint and taking sides with a convicted felon is not a good look to those who are unbiased in this issue. Even me, who I don't like cops, had to SMH at some of the comments.

Who else saw Straight Outta Compton? I think that movie is going to spark even more outrage against cops, even though it took place decades ago.

Well I think it's obvious the 2 sides disagree on when it is necessary to use lethal force.
And it's even more apparent that even when officers are justified in using lethal force BLM still burns down it's own communities and goes psychotic.
It's a lose-lose situation until people get real with themselves and start taking accountability for their actions and responsibility for their own lives instead of blaming other people. Never gonna end, get used to it.

Again. You just dont get it. Whose saying that blacks should get away with commiting crimes???? Hell who do you think is calling the police when something goes down in a black neighborhood?
Right or wrong. BLM isn't justifying it. Theyre saying turn about is fair play. I disagree. But people like you just dont help matters.

This.
Just seems like he got his butt kicked/ weapon taken & is making some lame excuse.
Unfortunately not the 1st or last cop that got overwhelmed by a suspect, but to use that excuse.....

What am I not getting?
I think I get it just fine.
I think we simply disagree on what justified lethal force is and when it should be applied.
I didn't say that u think black people should get away with crimes. Lol
And again, people need to take accountability for their actions and not deflect or blame others.

Taking accountability in what way? Lets try to find a medium.

Taking accountability in that when you commit a crime and fight with Police you acknowledge that you indeed committed a crime and faught with police.
And instead of your community burning itself down your community could acknowledge the fact that you are indeed guulty.
Or accountability as far as if you act like a goon, and fuhck with police you are going to get treated like a goon and the cops are going to fuhck with you.
I don't think we see it so differently, cops should not be abusing their power or killing people (even guilty people)when they don't have to.
I just think/know that if you are an upstanding citizen who treats the police with respect you never, ever have to worry about being hurt by them.
If your a criminal I don't want to protect you from police, you seem to advocate for the criminals instead of the police.

Luckily he didn't take his gun and blow his head off. You already assaulted an officer, and pistol whipped him. You're going to jail for a long, long time. May as well get rid of a witness.
I bet you'd make the same decision as well? Take the ass beating?

Me too, I know gun experts say you shoot to kill but is it really that hard to hit someone in the leg when they are close? Anyone who gets shot in the leg wll be incapacitated.

Shit, I remember going to the movie theater for a high school field trip to watch Amistad. You couldn't walk out of the theater without the black ghetto thug trash taking a swing at you cause of what they had just seen.

I advocate for justice and fairness. Like i said in this case. If i was the cop i would've shot him. Im just saying, make that be the last resort. I mean the kid at Walmart? The kid that got pulled over for the license plate not being on the front of his car? The guy that got shot for reaching for his license after the cop asked him. The kid that got shot in the park? The guy thst got shot in the back that was stopped for child support? The mentally ill guy that stole two bottles of soda?
I can go on and on. And list these cases because those cops shot first then asked questions later.

Heres a crazy idea. Scale back the police presence and let citizens take responsibility for their own safety, e.g. Arming themselves.

Actually, no.
People need to get it through their heads. When you're attacking someone, they have no moral responsibility to care at all about your well being. I don't know why you lefties always put ALL of the responsibility on the one being attacked, not the attacker.
People aren't required to take punches and beat downs just because you want to fight. People have a right to stop your attack. A person being attacked has no moral obligation to follow this idiot line of thinking like "why can't you just take a few punches? You getting punched isn't as bad as him dying." Yes, and next you'll tell women "why can't you just let him rape you? Rape is bad, but death is worse." As if both people are on equal moral ground.
A person has no moral responsibility to keep their attacker safe.

You mean the guy that was running towards a cop with a knife that he was holding up in a stabbing motion? Yeah, why ever would you shoot that guy?
And what it with this "kid" stuff? Why are these black guys always described as "kids". The "kid" that got stopped for a missing license plate? Kid? That dude was 43. Why is everyone calling him a kid?

You're right. But why don't they do that with everyone? Here are two more instances where police show tremendous restraint. Granted they do end up shooting and killing one guy, but only after a 10+ minute struggle. Let me guess cherry picking right?

I didnt see that video that way. What i saw was a mentally disturbed man who the police pulled right up on and didnt give him a chance to stand down. I feel the police escalated that situation.

I really don't get why cops don't have more non-lethal weapons? A solid dousing of pepper spray is ineffective? I honestly don't get it. Why are there not weapons being designed that incapacitate, but don't permanently harm/kill someone.
What is the problem with tasers?

You spray a lot of people with pepper spray, it'll just piss someone off.
I've been OC sprayed, which is 3x as strong as what law enforcement can legally use, and still ran an obstacle course and did take down maneuvers on people.
I've been hit with a taser, and simply grabbed the barb and ripped it out, breaking the circuit and rendering it useless (hold on while I reload a new cartridge since this thing is a one shot wonder).
You use a less lethal weapon, such as a bean bag shotgun, and you hit someone in the chest or face and you can kill them.
Plus in the event a criminal does have a real gun, there isn't a timeout feature to allow the officer to go get his gun with real bullets.
No, people ignore the simple truth of... Don't break the law. We critique and criticize everything an officer does, and we ignore the fact that 99/100 times, the victim of death by cop broke a law and then wasn't willing to face the consequences despite knowing them beforehand.
Now, as in the gas station example where the cop asked for his wallet, there are mistakes. And as a result, the officer was charged.
The problem is that we constantly look past the undeniable truth that if there was no law broken, the incidents would have never happened.
Instead of trying to handcuff an officers' ability to go home at the end of the night, we should instead be focusing on how to eliminate crime in the first place.
But that doesn't allow the media to control the mindless masses like a good old fashioned cop shooting does.
