Veteran shooting guard Jason Richardson will sign a non-guaranteed contract with the Atlanta Hawks, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Richardson, 34, averaged 9.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in a little less than 22 minutes per game in 19 contests last season with the Philadelphia 76ers. Richardson, who has spent 13 seasons in the NBA, visited with the Hawks on Friday and is expected to sign the contract on Monday. Hawks vice chair of the board Grant Hill was a teammate of Richardson's with the Phoenix Suns.

Richardson has averaged 17.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in his NBA career.

Didn't even know his career average was that high for points. Dude is so old and out of shape. He's not even the freak athlete he used to be and he was always a below average defender. Waste of a roster spot.

Might actually be a good fit for backup 4 especially with Mike Scott's legal troubles. Has always been a good rebounder and has enough girth

The f*ck? JRich is like 6'3 legit.

He's only 34? Seems like he's been in the league forever.

Lol no one else could see it? He's got good size and is a decent rebounder, and can shoot a 3. Similar to iguodalas role as starter during the finals but he'll be more tasked to cover stretch fours.

I seriously think we're going to see a lot of this nowadays. I'm secretly hoping that 2k adopts 3 positions now per player

I get what your saying but then why not put Thabo or Korver at the 4 if your going super small ball ? Those guys are probably stronger than J-Rich at this stage. I've see Korver check guys when he's had too.

J-Rich is better at the 2 or 3, max.

I'd rather see Thabo exclusive at the 3. They need him to defend the LeBron and Melos of the Easter conference.

Plus you're only looking at J rich playing about 16 minutes a game at the 4. You already have bazemore and Hardaway getting most of the backup wing positions.

I think they got Hardaway Jr to play backup 4 and a little 5.

Definition of low risk high reward. If he's healthy, I bet he play bigger playoff minutes than bazemore and hardaway

At this point in his career, his nickname should be JPoor.
