Durant. More efficient, arguably tougher conference at the time. Durant is a better shooter than prime Kobe.

same tier for sure, IMO. Probably Kobe, though.. KD in the regular season may have reached a level Kobe was never at, but Kobe would be a bit more reliable and battle tested in the playoffs.

Better answer than mine. I second this.

Durant was better, best scorer since MJ

Durant, and it's not even close. :oldlol:
KD lead his team to more wins, was way more efficient, and almost got to the Finals. 05-06 Kobe on the other hand spent the entire season stat padding instead of making teammates better, and then capped if off by choking away a 3-1 lead to Steve Nash! The same Steve Nash Kobetards are always claiming stole Kobe's mvp. :facepalm

Obviously Kobe but 13-14 KD was the most dominant player since Kobe.

Lol, what do you mean "since" Kobe, you mean since Kobe's entered the league? If so, I'd love to hear your arguments for Durant over '00 Shaq, '03 Duncan, and '12 or '13 LeBron

Most dominant in the past 15 years in my opinion.

1. '00 Shaq
2. '03 Duncan
3. '13 LeBron

3 best "individual years" of the 21st century.

good choices...

obv. off OP but lets do it anyway:

1. 2000 Shaq/2010 Bron
3. 2003 Duncan
4. 2004 Garnett
5. A big bowl of Dirk/KB/Wade/KD versions and 2008-2009 Paul + 2011 Howard

C'mon bruh, '10 LeBron loses all credibility with his last 3 games against Boston. To rank him tied with '00 Shaq and ahead of '03 Duncan is a joke. '12, '13, and '09 LeBron > '10 LeBron

Ya, but now that I think of it, aside from Kobe, there never really was any player better than KD at their absolute peak except maybe Kareem. As long as we're using eye test I think it's pretty clear cut 13-14 version KD was a more dominant player compared to those guys you listed.

How did Durant compare "eye test" wise to those other players in the Finals?

those last 3 games don't take away from his ability.. he was a God that year. Could to anything on a bball court.

27 19 and 10 was his last game in 2010; let that sink in. Apparently thats a bad game, not very efficient but nobody was on his team. When you say a bad game for lebron its still arguably top 5 numbers all time for a BAD game

Empty stats. Series was already over the previous game when he quit. That's why people talked about him quitting in Game 5 more than his stats in that series.

6-4 in triple doubles since 2010 playoffs. So it's not even a guaranteed he'd win in games he get trip-dub. Empty stats!

He shot poorly with double digit turnovers.

I agree, he was a beast in 2010, and while his 21/11/8 average those last 3 games against Boston would be great for 99% of players, shooting 34% with 6 TO's is ghastly. That is certainly not "god" like play. And that definitely eliminates him from the ranks of '00 Shaq and '03 Duncan

Stats are stats man, if he wasnt trying he woulcnt get 19 rebounds, rebounds are based on effort so he gave effort. He wouldnt have scored those points either. He had a couple triple doubles in these finals that they lost but they were expected to. Just b/c a team loses it isnt always the stars fault, he performed above his usual numbers and others didnt perform as well

I'll take the guy who averaged 40 for a month, scored 62 in three quarters against the WCF champs, dropped 81 points in a game and took Smush/ Kwame to the playoffs..

oh and then there's this..

50 point games..

Kobe 06 = 6

Kevin Durant for his entire career = 4

This is true.

People on here harp on how the dude got shutdown, but he still put up 29ppg on 47% shooting or something. That is better than an average Kobe performance in the playoffs. :oldlol:

Dude is a flat out better player, probably one of the 10 best ever just of pure play alone. But you'll hear someone get criticized for that opinion just because he is still around, plays in the network media era where everything is scrutinized, etc.

Durant is one of the best ever. Point blank, end of story.

If you're speaking for who had the better year, probably Durant seeing as he won the MVP, won the #2 seed, and made it through multiple rounds of the playoffs. As for who was the better player, that's probably Kobe. Kobe was held back by his team a ton, more so than Durant, but he still lit up insane numbers and almost carried his team to a series victory against the MVP Nash.

Durant. Even in the playoffs(where both significantly regressed) he was superior. And did it against far better defenses in the postseason
