Amazing how much high quality footage the NBA is just sitting on, never releasing it for sale or airing it anywhere online or on TV. What a joke. They have HD quality sideline broadcast type videos of probably every game from the mid-80's onward at a minimum.

Spike Lee tried his best to get a hold of the MJ footage to make a documentary ... couldn't get it. Settled for Kobe Doin Work instead. And it is a shame.

It's really ridiculous. Not comparing Jordan's import to the Mona Lisa or some great work of art, but it's the equivalent of some dude buying the Mona Lisa and just stashing it in a vault and never letting anyone see it in any manner whatsoever. It's a joke. Let people pay for it, then, or at least periodically air some of it.

Do you have any articles which cite that Lee couldn't get access to the footage? I hadnt heard of that.

You are aware that the NBA is working on a project and has been for years that will basically be all the footage they have categorized and searchable?

I was going to mention that in my first post in here, but as far as I heard that project (which they were working on with Synergy sports) was scrapped, no? I haven't heard anything about it in over 5 years. You have any sources that say it's still on?

Travel? LOL. He stutter stepped into a hop while dribbling then planted his pivot foot to his left. I didn't see it move an inch till he jumped to make a pass. What the hell are you smoking son? :facepalm :oldlol: :lol

Everybody who played the game travelled. Wilt might have said he never did though. :oldlol:

Can anyone tell us what the record for "official" consecutive triple-doubles is (god only knows what it would have been had blocks officially recorded)?

Always used to piss me off (still does, really) when the NBA used to use the SAME DAMN HIGHLIGHTS. Hours of footage, and these bitches use the same ones.

Thank God for YouTube. I've seen so many MJ highlights and games I missed, either because I didn't really start watching him until the 1987-88 season or because I didn't get WGN Chicago until 1992 and could only get the games TBS, TNT, CBS and then NBC aired before that.

What? Maaaaan, **** the NBA.

It really is dumbfounding. Their leagues best player historically, and they don't offer on-demand games to the public; games that would make them tons of money. I don't mind that we don't get HD telecasts, I do hate they sit on his REALLY rare stuff though.

I still haven't seen his 50 point barrage vs the '86/87 Knicks...the game he said he was "eye level" on some of his dunks, and that he never felt more athletic.

what's up with the absolute aversion to defense displayed in 80s ball?

How awkwardly did that white guy at 0.36 try to swipe the ball away from MJ allowing him an open path? :lol

some of this defense really doesn't look that good, mang :ohwell:

it misses the footage of MJ asking the scorekeepers how many assists he has to pad to get the triple double

Someone else already invented that technology around 2005. It was three former PayPal employees named Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim.

But whenever somebody tries to put that footage on YouTube, their account gets shut down.

I watched Michael in the early 90's and as big of a Kobe fan as I am, I don't deny that Jordan was the greatest ever.

No player made me feel hopeless when my Lakers played the Bulls. It's like, even if we were up by 15 points with 8 minutes left, I just felt like Michael will take control and rally his team back every time.

He shoulda wore purple and gold. :pimp:

From September 2012:

"SGI expects that it will take another two to four years to complete the archive project. The organisation has already upgraded to a new digital content facility in New Jersey that is processing around 38TB a day of new and historical game footage."

Figured one of the typical Jordan haters would come in with this, even though most of those assists were definitely necessary. Or maybe MJ's so good, even when he scores, he always had the option to drop it off...He has a choice...Goat gonna goat...:confusedshrug:

In Wilt's '67-68 season, he had a string of NINE straight Triple-Doubles (and not counting blocks), in which he averaged...

26.7 ppg, 23.7 rpg, 12.2 apg, and on a .693 FG%.

BUT, it gets even better. In the three games before that streak, he put up games of 31-21-15 on 12-20 FG-FGA; 22-19-13 on 8-14 FG-FGA; and 38-28-9 on 16-21 FG-FGA.

So, he was ONE assist away from a string of 12 straight triple-doubles (and if blocked shots had been recorded, who knows how many quads.)

And in those 12 straight games, he averaged...

27.6 ppg, 23.4 rpg, 12.3 apg, and on a .683 FG%.

Some of it is ... the same way a lot of defense in today's regular season looks equally bad on various possessions. What's your point? You don't watch today's games too?

Close, but not the record. Magic and Oscar don't hold it, either.
