I much prefer Kemp but that entire sequence at @ 10:15 is nuts on Nique's video. Also that part part @ 11:15 :biggums:

Both redefined their positions with their freakish athletic ability. What Dr. J meant for the gliding one foot takeoff shit, Nique meant the same for the two-foot power hops dunking. And there were NO PF's before Kemp doing that kind of stuff.

Dominique's TOTAL CATALOG of dunks is the greatest in NBA history. He has more poster worthy dunks than anybody. Kemp or Blake have the best catalog of dunks for a big man of all time.

Yup.

I have to take Nique if I pick one. Kemp's hands were too small to do as much with the ball as Nique.

Nique's double pumps and cocking the ball super low were always awesome to me.

Both are absolutely crazy though.

Kemp

Kemp had just as if not more power than nique but kemp had flare.

Kemp was so damn fOnky. Nique stiff. Same straight up dunks over and over. Body straight as a board on every dunk.

Kemp had way more style. way way more.

Kemp had one and two foot dunks. Adding to his style. Nique majority two foot dunks and just seem like same few dunks. Stiff and not as fOnky as kemp.

Kemp could not get away with that stuff in today's disney soft NBA. He would get a tech for his theatrics. I think they were both great in game dunkers. I used to get excited watching the Sonics..Kemp brought it with lots of power.

Also, let the records show that Wilkins 36 and 37 years old in those San Antonio Spurs clips, still throwing down oops, tip dunking, and bringing the power.

I remember Wilkins having some nice dunks in San Antonio, but I didn't remember him having that many. Turns out he was still doing it, albeit for an awful, awful Spurs team.

Kemps dunks always felt like he was trying to flush the opposing team down the toilet with the ball. Nique was more of a humanitarian despite being just as ruthless. I do think these guys were the two best power/style big presence dunkers there ever were. When they came to town you could tell they were loaded.

Nique would wind up a bit and get higher than Kemp. Kemp got to the rim quicker and stunned me a bit more. Both could do double clutch go under the defender's hands for a reverse power dunk very easy - which is amazing because you have to twist very late in the jump (where a player is more athletic than powerful) to pull it off. They are the only players that come to mind that could frequently delay their power blast

The thing that separates Kemp from most Dunkers are his legs. He just has fun dunking. Jumps weird and this just makes it look nicer.

Well said! The fact that Kemp was 6'10 and 240 pounds doing that stuff was SICK!! It's much harder for man that big to do those types of dunks. In terms of freakish athletic PF's, I still think Kemp is the gold standard. After him, I think guys like Blake, Amare, and McDyess would come next.

Blake was closing in on Kemp but his short arms meant he had to jump really high but the opponents kept trying to bully him and keep him from going air born. But you are on point as always.

I agree! Kemp was lanky as hell back in the day! And Kemp had a better blend of one foot and vertical power dunks. Blake is strictly two foot hops. Blake's physique kind of reminds me more of a Karl Malone kind of build. Kemp and Nique ACTUALLY had the same kind of build. But Kemp's build was like a PF version of Nique's.

Biz, check the video of Kemp when he dunks on Hakeem. Am I freaking??? but Hakeem looks like a kid next to him. He did blow up at one point but he moved way too fluent in that clip to have been the overloaded Kemp.

DAMN Kemp was such a beast back in the day! He was an EPIC BLEND of athletic ability in skill! He was easily an HOF kind of talent at his peak. But I don't think he will get in. But who knows, down the road he could get in. He redefined the PF position with his athletic ability. So that could help him out.
