That's sick.
Are the 2002 Kings and 2000 Blazers in it???

No NBA fans can ever not respect nor appreciate that 04' Piston.
They embodied everything that's right with basketball.

Strong team defense, cohesion, ball movement. They were just deadly.

I like that more "modern" teams are available. Some of the teams, while good, are a bitch to play with current rules

Back to my days of Wallace and Wallace in the paint! One of my favorite ever teams to play in past 2k games. Think big ben was on the cover in 04 or 05 or something. So sick and hyped!

99' Spurs next?!

Sick. It'll be fun to play with the younger, more athletic Sheed on the 2000 Blazers, and then seeing how different his older, more polished counterpart will play on the 04 Pistons.

It wasn't until the following year(s) that he really began to sink into slightly-more-groundbound-veteran mode.

True that.

I don't know how fun they'd be to play with. There's a reason they have the early 90s Warriors and Hornets. They weren't great teams but the stars on them were fun.

I was gonna say something along these lines. The 2004 Pistons are a great team but I can definitely see them being a team that's not useful and doesn't play up to their real-life counterpart unless 2K slightly overrates some attributes for some of their players. It'll be nearly impossible for 2K to make the virtual '04 Pistons just kinda sorta close as devastating defensively as the real '04 Pistons.

KG215

I love most of the more modern teams they're adding but I really wish they could do whatever they need to get done to add the '77 Blazers.

I disagree, I find playing NBA 2K on the highest difficulty, it is far easier to win games with a balanced team like the 04' Pistons.

Playing with a one/two superstars + mediocre role players is tougher, IMO.

They weren't great teams but the stars on them were fun.I think it depends what a player is looking for. I don't mess with head-to-head online gaming so I'm not sure how the team would translate on that front (though I envision Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton being dangerous).

In standard play (offline or against non-insane online opponents), I can see them being pretty dangerous when used correctly. I used to make the 2004 Pistons myself and running Hamilton off of double screens really did work quite well. And Rasheed Wallace can be a huge contributor to a gamer who's savvy with the post game (not to mention he can extend beyond the arc).

That said, Tayshaun Prince has historically been an "okay" option but nothing great, and Ben Wallace is just about useless offensively. The bench can also be touch-and-go, as Lindsey Hunter and Mike James aren't go-to video game characters. It's kind of on Corliss Williamson and Mehmet Okur on that next unit.

I find it easiest to dominate with a great big that can shoot from the post like Dirk and work from there or an unstoppable threat like LeBron and wait for the double in order to get open 3s. If there is neither, yikes. :(

Haven't played online quick games for a while now (not since the release of my team anyways). This should make it interesting.

The 04 Pistons will probably be one of those teams that are better irl compared to in the game though. I can see the 08 Rockets or Raptors being very popular though.

Have you forgotten how boss Sheed was in the post (especially in 2k)? Just as good as Dirk man...

Having a bunch of shooters and a defensive monster down low is game over in 2k. Beast and feast for days. I don't know where this "balanced Piston" dilemma is coming from :confusedshrug:

Meh, just bump up his ratings a bit to make him closer to his prime self. That's what I end up doing every year with certain classic players who are past their prime or before their prime.

I think doing that, and playing with a prime-esque version of T-Mac and prime VC and a pretty "meh" supporting cast in MyCAREER or MyGM could be pretty fun.

Now that I think about it, I believe it has more to do with Yao still being apart of the team. Trying to attract the Chinese market I guess, because why else would they pick this team over one of the run n gun Suns of the mid 00's?

They haven't picked the Rockets over them, they still have a few teams to announce, I'm expecting one of those Suns teams and 06 Heat

Now that I think about it, I believe it has more to do with Yao still being apart of the team. Trying to attract the Chinese market I guess, because why else would they pick this team over one of the run n gun Suns of the mid 00's?Yeah, I think the Yao and Tracy McGrady combo is what they were going for there. They have a little bit of history in 2K as being an unstoppable force (they never quite figured out how to limit the power of a guy who stood 7'6'' in the game). One would think they'd have gone at least one year earlier, when Yao actually finished out the season, but maybe it was easiest to build the '08 team with the players available.

And as Kemba said, there's still five more teams that have not yet been revealed, so the Rockets haven't been picked over the Suns yet, per se. With all the new clubs seemingly coming from the 2000's, and knowing Nash is in the game with the '03 Mavericks, it appears as though a mid-00's Suns team could have a good chance of making the cut, assuming all the necessary rights could be secured.

It is kinda interesting how their prominence basically started with an epic Kobe chokejob, and ended with a steamrolling at the hands of Lebron :oldlol:

But then again, LeBron James did some LeBron James things and stuff happened, so shoulda, coulda, woulda.

I thought the official end of their reign came a year later against Boston, back in the conference finals. Detroit stretched the series to six but I never quite had the feeling they could emerge victorious. Those super Celtics were just better, and I think the aging Pistons had grown content, particularly with a ring already to their names.

Seems like all the new teams are from the 2000s. I'm guessing that they don't have the rights to guys like Barkley, Miller, or Webber or else those guys teams would be in it. My guess on the remaining 5:

05 Suns
05 Spurs
06 Heat
09 Lakers
12 Heat

Their prominence started with a salary dump trade for Rasheed Wallace (who was already salary dump traded to the Hawks earlier that year) and ended with, as has been stated upthread, Wade and/or the Celtics.

Nice try at trolling though starface.

I thought they should've made the Finals in 2007 but in 2008 they didn't stand a chance IMO to the Celtics. However losing Big Ben was huge.

On a related classic Pistons note, the Jordan Rules will be in 2K16, amongst other old school adjustments (some highlights):

Jordan RULES – Yes, the infamous “Jordan Rules” are in the game. The entire progression on how they disrupted Jordan’s rhythm in the late 80’s is here. From where they forced him when he had the ball, to the change from Dumars to Rodman depending on success.

Scottie Pippen matching up with Magic Johnson- As you know this was the adjustment that changed the entire 91’ series.

Gary Payton on MJ in 96’ Finals.

Celtics adjustments to the Showtime Lakers.

And now for the letdown: a stream revealed last night that the 2004 Pistons roster currently has just seven real players:

Chauncey Billups - 88
Ben Wallace - 87
Richard Hamilton - 86
Tayshaun Prince - 77
Elden Campbell - 70
Lindsey Hunter - 69
Darko Milicic - 69

So, yeah, that means no Rasheed Wallace, Mehmet Okur, Corliss Williamson, or Mike James.

On the plus side, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is back, Eric Snow has been added to the '01 Sixers (and '96 Sonics), Nick Van Exel is on with the '03 Mavs and '98 Lakers, Rick Fox is there, Steve Francis is on that 2008 Rockets team, and Isaiah Rider made the 2001 Lakers (I know those last two didn't even make the playoff rosters but it's cool to have their likenesses aboard).

Without those 4 players, they don't become a classic team. Hopefully, 2K fixes this. Otherwise, I agree with the rankings. Rasheed's a 85-87 but will probably be that one player on the team that can drop a ton of points if used correctly- posting up etc instead of shooting 3s.

Spent 30 minutes on making my dude and he ended up looking like Robin Lopez :facepalm . The face scan is maybe better. Took me one try and I got 9000 plus obviously using artificial lighting because it's midnight. Tho my room gets pretty bright when I turn the lights on and I moved a lamp with the shade off next to me with my phone light shining behind.

Initially don't like the look of the menus, but it's more intuitive than last year which is great. Don't know why 2K always bombs the menu. Doesn't seem like they did this year, although I'm just messing with the settings right now. It's just ugly that bothers me. Whatever.

Guess I'll jump straight into mycareer.
