His rationalistic isn't going to be well-received by all Kobe-supporting extremists, but it is not a product of hate towards Kobe—not compared to many stans on this board who not only try to discredit Kobe as a player; they've also been besieging attacks on him for his personal life.

The only real differentiator for the amount of deprecatory talk towards Kobe is the fact that Kobe—irrespective to his greatness—is the most overrated player of all time; as such, he is oftentimes a focal point for Bruce's hype-detracting, because it only stands to reason that the most popular player of his generation will garner the most hype. However, just as Kobe dies by his detest for hype, he also lives by it; for example, he also criticized ESPN in ranking Kobe at #93.

He's more than willing to go against the grain; but if that grain is constitutive to a myth, then debunking it is his only real agenda. Just as he vehemently defended LeBron over Derrick Rose when the Bulls Point Guard outvoted him for the 2011 MVP award (undeservedly, in his opinion and mine), he was also just as hasty to take a 180 and attack LeBron as Lebron-Jordan hype mounted up
