I've been on a Hitchcock binge lately. Seen Vertigo and was blown away. After I watched it I knew I had just seen greatness. My favorite by far that Ive seen.
North by Northwest was alright.
Rope was excellent.
I really enjoyed Rear Window.
I respect Psycho but wasn't proclaiming it one of the best ever after viewing it.
I have a lot more to get through of his films. I think Notorius is up next, or maybe Lifeboat.

Honestly I haven't watched much of Hichcock's stuff. I remember liking Shadow of a Doubt. Jamaica Inn. Sabotage was also good, this movie was probably shocking in it's day because of the kid that dies.

edit: wait did you mean beyond a shadow of a doubt?
still lhaven't seen vertigo, i gotta get on that then
i grew up with my mom making THE BIRDS jokes every time we heard a large swarm of squawking crows, so that one remains at the very top of a list that really isn't well established after only... four of his films
i did watch rear window some time ago and thought it was great. rope is just unique and not just for it's time, which is why i love it. i'm with you on psycho.

Bases on the films I've seen:
1.Vertigo
2. Shadow of a Doubt
3. Rear Window
4. Psycho
5. Strangers On A Train
6. Marnie
7. Birds
8. Trouble With Harry
"Vertigo" and "Shadow" are among the best films I've ever seen.

The Lady Vanishes is#1 for me. It's the usual suspects after that: Vertigo, Psycho, North by Northwest.

Rear Window. The whole take on voyeurism is great and Grace Kelly is like the perfect 50s female: beautiful, sultry and when her boyfriend is housebound she brings him lobster from 21. Damn.

Even though Hitchock is not one of my favorites, I really love The 39 Steps and The Lady Vanishes.
Psycho (aside from the final scene), Vertigo, Rebecca, Notorious and Rear Window are all pretty great films too.

I'm a huge Hitchcock fan. And have been for a really long time. I got into him young on the horror end of his stuff. But found that I prefer the suspense stuff more.
Rear Window is something that if you made me rattle off my ten favorite movies ever, it'd probably come out of my mouth somewhere. Vertigo is great too.
I just saw Rope a couple weekends ago on a big screen, and it was a great experience. I love Rope, but my problem with it is that it's always played a little like Rear Window for me, the way it plays like a stage production, with the whole thing really taking place on the single set, and for me Rear Window is too perfect a movie, and Rope reads almost like a dry run for it.
Vertigo and North by Northwest would be my next two. I just missed a North showing on the bigscreen a few weeks ago because I go hammered by traffic.
Strangers on a Train and Rope would probably be my favorite of the deeper cuts.

Rear Window is easily my favorite.
Some days I really consider it a top 5 movie I've ever seen but it never falls off my top 10.
Out of the old school movies; I only feel like Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Raging Bull and On The Waterfront were its equal.

Notorious
Shadow of a Doubt
Foreign Correspondent
Lifeboat
The Trouble With Harry
Rope
I'll sit down to watch those on TMC every time they come on.

I never truly thought very highly of Citizen Kane -- exception being the perfect directing & camera work, of course.

Psycho for me. I feel like it got overrated so long that people started to underrate it.

Hitchcock had a lot of guts killing off the main protagonist halfway through the film, but it leaves it basically rudderless for the entire second half. It was a bold move, but it didn't work for me.
The ending, with the psychiatrist painstakingly explaining the MO of Norman Bates, was unnecessary and awful.
Psycho is a great film with a lot of flaws.

I actually feel like it was underrated generally because of that killing by the younger generation. Because seeing it fresh, I don't really know who that is, so the killing was shocking, but not so much that the audience isn't free to re-focus. At the time of it's release that must've been unbelievable though.
I agree that ending postscript scene is really horrible.

Rear Window is definitely my jam. Probably in my top3 movies ever tbh...
North by Northwest is also great! It's like American James Bond :D Must watch for anyone just wanting to have a good time and be entertained.
I was disappointed in Vertigo. Just didn't quite have the story for me but the camera work was amazing as expected.
Psycho is definitely in my top thrillers ever and just the story alone inspired so many modern scripts.
Notorious = pretty solid I suppose but wtf was up with that ending? :facepalm
Oh and the drunk driving scene in it is hilarious :oldlol:
Dial M for Murder was very enjoyable. Lots of good plot turns n such and I thought the actors all had great chemistry.
Still gotta see The Birds (ya i know! whats wrong with me?)
Hitchcock easily one of my favorite directors ever...top 3 for sure.

What's wrong with the ending? Despite being the villain you Hitchcock made you feel bad for Claude at the end as the door closes on him with the Nazis.
And yes, the opening drunk driving scene is f*cking hilarious. Cracks me up every time. I wanna party with Ingrid.
