Kobe is not fluid. He dribbles funny and runs funny. Doesn't mean he isn't insanely athletic. A very young Kobe was so-so fluid, but still herky jerky. It is why he is good at drawing fouls - he moves in a weird (but not ugly way).

In the case of Rose and Iverson, often its about the second defender that the fake is for. They don't have much a problem with the first defender. When Rose had Wade and Lebron on the break he first angles off and bumps Wade, than gets Lebron to overrun the play.
