View Full Version : Windows 10: Delete the update permanently and off the task bar

I finally got around to doing this. No more stupid windows icon and no more running in the background.
First of all....OPEN TASK MANAGER.....There is something running called GXV....END PROCESS
THEN PROCEED TO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE LINK....

You missed some steps tho!
Uninstall and hide Update KB2976978 also if the Get Windows 10 app is not removed completely.
%WinDir%\System32\GWX folder -Delete this
If you just want to disable the GWX app from running, without uninstalling updates or finding hiden folders to delete, just create the following registry key and value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\Gwx]
"DisableGwx"=dword:00000001
Or, copy and paste the above into a text file with .reg extension, and then execute it.
