lettuce be real. Halo 2 is the GOAT FPS game, EVER!
It basically pioneered the way for online multiplayer games, not to mention the ultra competitive gameplay mechanics and game modes.
It's also the first popular Major League Gaming game to be in tournaments. The biggest ticket drawer and the one that had the most teams/players, most game types and the most prize money.

They need to bring it back to xbox live, with the exact same game mechanics aka button combos. It will quickly become the most popular FPS again.

It was by far the most popular FPS I've experienced. That and MW2 were extremely popular growing up. Halo 2 was more fun though to be honest.

My summers in like 2005-2006 consisted of playing basketball and biking all day with friends. Then play Halo 2 until 9-10pm. This was literally like 3 times a week back then.

Halo 2 isn't even the 2nd best game from its own series.

Halo: Combat Evovled & Halo 3 were better; I liked Reach better too.

Halo 2 is what got me hooked onto the franchise.

It's a shame that Halo Reach was the last great Halo game. 343 Industries has killed this franchise. I'll still buy Halo 5 though.

Halo 2 is hands down the GOAT console FPS. It revolutionized console online matchmaking, that we see all console shooters now have since copied them. It also was the most balanced console FPS that I have ever played. No weapon seemed overpowered, nor flawed. The needler was lethal but low ammo and required more time to secure a lethal round. The campaign was EPIC. Easily my favorite one to play. Even though when it was released, the dual story vision, and abrupt cliff hanger ending was most of criticisms, it has insane replayability, the levels offer multiple routes and options, and a wide array of weapons, vehicles, and enemies. Not to mention it has bosses, AND it was by far the hardest campaign of the series.

Seriously. Try and beat prophet of regret. It will take you at least 30 minutes if you don't get shit ass lucky and charge him. It took me like 4 hours, after I figured that camping and safing him didn't work. Or the start of Gravemind, in the council chamber with only 1 needler and up against multiple rounds of brutes and needler grunts? HOLY Siamushi!

Halo 2 is hands down the GOAT console FPS. Deuce and these older guys don't get it. It CHANGED the game for console FPS just like Halo 1 did as well.

most iconic FPS for computer is doom. I remember when all other FPS games were called doom clones.

For console its 007.

Console FPS and PC FPS should be judged separately. It's different leagues.

PC is the Olympics, Console is the NBA. Technically the Olympics is the highest level of competition, but more people care about the NBA.

Without the Halo franchise, Xbox would be dead right now.

This is true. Halo found a way to bring what PC games had already done for years to the console. If you judge consoles and PC together, Halo is just a normal game. However, separately Halo is the most iconic FPS ever on consoles. Maybe COD 4 comes close but it didn't have the impact Halo did.

Please explain

Halo: Combat Evolved is the game that made us all drop GoldenEye and get an Xbox after three or four years of blowing in Nintendo 64 cartridges. Halo: CE had us willingly cramming 4 Xbox units and 4 TVs into the nearest bedroom to play against each other because Xbox Live didn't even exist yet. Halo not only made the Xbox, it made Xbox Live the monster it had to become in order for Halo 2 to be the multiplayer powerhouse it became. Then Halo 2 came along and we had to listen to vulgar children call each other "****" and "gays" and say f*ck with every other word while they succeeded in being horrific at deathmatch.

Halo 2's campaign was complete crap, too. That's purely subjective, mind you, but it counts for something when we're talking "great" and "iconic." Not a single moment in any Halo game has ever come close to replicating that feeling when you asked your TV screen "What the f*ck is the Flood?" and then got the answer.

And Halo 2 was the game that made us all start matchmaking and playing online. It was the firestarter for the HUGE industry, online console FPS gaming. To acknowledge Halo 1's impact but not Halo 2's is wrong. Both were revolutionary for different reasons. I have played the Halo campaigns probably more than anyone here, continual replays since 2001. I think both have their strong areas... Halo 2 had the best ally AI in the series hands down. Halo 1 probably had the best level design, although I'd argue that Halo 2 had more variety due to Halo 1's reversing level maps, which made for great emotion of the overall arc. What I like about Halo is the speed of it. It was noticeably quicker from Halo 1, but it maintained the simplicity and balance, while adding in new things.

There was matchmaking long before Halo 2.

If anything, they stole it from FPS PC games (CS, Day of Defeat, Wolfenstein was around the same time, Battlefield).

The opening scene was epic however.

Thinking back, Halo 2 is the worst out of all of them except for ODST.
CE easily is better to me; Halo 3 is easily better...Reach was more memorable to me and even Halo 4 I enjoyed more. :confusedshrug:

3B- Halo Reach
5- ODST
6- Halo 4

I usually don't include ODST in my rankings

You can pretty much stop ranking them after H3. The rest of the games were absolute trash (only talking multiplayer wise).

3 was just a downgraded version of 2, Reach was an absolute abomination, 4 was a little better than Reach but still garbage.

I already mentioned that AND specifically why it got backlashed initially. Retrospectively now it's campaign is revered as one of the best. There's a reason why they've gone back to a dual point of view campaign story in Halo 5. But you wouldn't know any of this because you're not a Halo fan nor educated on it. Any real Halo fan will tell you the campaign in Halo 2 is one of the best. Regardless of it being slightly rushed because of pressure from Microsoft at the time.

I'm a halo fan, I'm educated on it, the single player in halo 2 still sucks. I re played them recently in the master chief collection and it's still a struggle to get through. They introduced some good features in that game sure, but the campaign was flat out shit. The devs on that collection said they put in the ability to jump in to any chapter in the game purely so people could skip the shit parts of halo 2's campaign.

No you're not.

Halo 2 has majority of the best levels in the whole series. Delta Halo. Cairo Station. Metropolis. Gravemind. Regret. Outskirts. The Arbiter. Oracle. Quarantine zone. The last portion of Sacred Icon. The last 3 mission were clearly rushed, but they still had some of the best firefights and skirmishes in the whole series. There's a segment in High Charity where you come up an elevator and you are locked inside a room with alot of flood and covenant.

The replay-ability factor is huge because of how open a lot of the levels are.

Not to mention it is hands down the hardest Halo campaign by far. Nothing comes close. For a true Halo fan, that alone is enough. Try beat Regret on legendary. It will take awhile.
